Really not what this is about. God bless the guy, he was a great coach and turned a perennial loser and occasionally mediocre team and organization into one of the best. Art Rooney Sr. was one of the finest football owners and decent individuals that the NFL has been graced with but he was more familiar with horses, base ball and boxing. When he hired Noll, the whole thing changed and Noll more than anything else changed an organization's expectations. The only thing that mattered after he was done was winning Super Bowls. I'm sure Landry, Halas, Walsh, Lombardi, Belicheck, Shula, Parcell, Brown and so on mean as much to their home towns and the teams they coached. Knoll was a great coach but he was an accomplished individual in more than one area.
If you told him Lombardi was a better coach, he would agree immediately.
