I (and most others) have maligned this group severely and much of the blame of the team's terrible start to the season has been put squarely on their shoulders. While it's only been a couple games, it seems only fitting that we give them (and maybe even the coaches - gasp!) a little credit for the recent uptick in their level of play.
The interior oline especially has been playing great. DeCastro has been an absolute beast - especially in the run game. He is just blowing dlinemen off the LOS. It's finally clicking for him and he is certainly is showing himself worthy of the first round pick. Velasco was a great find and is already better than the overrated Pouncey IMHO. The guy is just solid at center. Foster has also played well. These guys seem to be well matched.
Even the tackles have played well. Tomlin's move to finally bench Adams has given Beachum a chance to play in his preferred position and he is making the most of it. While not the biggest guy, he has mobility and footwork that Adams has lacked and does a good job of keeping between pass rushers and BB.
Here's something I never thought I'd be saying - Guy Whimper looked pretty decent at RT against the Rats. I hope that was not a fluke.
I'm still not convinced our OT issues have been resolved for the season but I'm feeling pretty good about the interior line and that's a pretty good start. Lets hope they all can stay healthy.
