Are down-field cut blocks legal for offensive players?
By 'down-field' I mean blocks that happen either far down field or near the sidelines (or both).
Example: Forte had a nice 50+ yard TD on a misdirection pitch yesterday. During the play, about 10 yards down field on the sidelines Brandon Marshall threw a cut block on a Lions corner (or safety) that really sprung Forte.
Previously I thought cut blocks weren't allowed outside of the 'tackle' halo, but they showed it on replay and the announcers gave Marshall props for his effective block so it made me think I don't know the rule.
