I don't know how you managed to get that for Rice with the bidding still open, but bravo.

Well his rights can be traded, right? He'll still have to deal with the bidding and decide whether or not to match.

I mean I don't know how NJ Dirty Birds managed to get that much out of someone while bidding was still open, especially with his cap situation. I expected the bidding to force him to trade him well below value, but two firsts and a second is a pretty good haul for Rice's rights and Witten with only 1 year left on his contract.

Looks like a pretty fair trade to me.

Say's the guy who dropped 70k on an opening bid for a WR you could have had for 30k...

I assure you, he couldn't have got him for anywhere near 30k.

No way I could have gotten him for 30k. I definitely overbid for him, but its free agency.

My mindset going into the trade was this is going to be a win it all or bust season. I have Ryan, Sproles, Witten and Harvin all on 1 yr deals so I'm going to lose most of them at the end of the yr. Since i believe my team will be competing for the championship I looked at my 2014 1st as more like an early 2nd so to me it was more like trading 2 2nds and a 1st for Rice and Witten. I knew it was risky making a trade before the bidding closed but I wanted both players and i got them. Also the picks are spread out over the next 3 years so I can easily get picks back in the future if I want to replace them.

It's also not going to be too expensive to franchise Witten at the end of the year if I choose to do that.

Birds incur a cap penalty of $5,050 for trading Witten.
