"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - Kung fu Monkey

Ever climb a round-top mountain? At the bottom of each rise, all you can see is the sky. As you climb, you find that there is another rise after that. And then another and another. God has brought you through the worst time in your life so far. I'm glad for that.

Too many people on here try to be theologians, interprating what they read in the Bible to fit what they want it to say or change it because times have changed.
Have you considered that they might simply have a different point of view? You and your trusted advisors are interpreting, too. It's just that those interpretations don't trouble you where others might. I submit that God is in the business of troubling the water.

Well, that gives me hope for you. Beliefs, interpretations of the Bible are entirely secondary to love and service.

With God in my life anything is possible.

Yes, some interpretations do bother me, especially when they are contrary to what the Bible says or they are coming from people who are extremely hypocritical.

Yes, Jesus #1 rule was to love your Lord God and Love your neighbor , which I struggle with loving all of my neighbors but I am working on it.
Ignorance is those who disparage believers....12 They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty of the LORD—the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, the young of the flocks and herds. They will be like a well-watered garden, and they will sorrow no more.
13 Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Love and service, like everything, have to have a context and be framed in the right context. And the Bible defines that context, particularly as we see that exercised in the life of Jesus. Remember, Jesus will say to many who believe they "served" Him, "Depart from me because I NEVER know you." Service outside of the context God approves is ultimately not service for God.

Be that as it may, some treat interpretations as if they have no basis in truth and are merely opinions. But the Bible doesn't treat interpretations that way. God's interpretation is the only one that matters. And there are many passages that are clear with respect to what His interpretation is.

Even so, the Scripture say, "There is a way (interpretation) that seems right unto a person, but the ultimate end is the way (interpretation) of death."

You can have your interpretation, the next person can have his. But what matters is how God interprets matters and whether we're in line with what His word declares.

On another note - I had a funny experience 2 weeks after accepting that Christ died for my sins. I went to church service and a guy introduces himself, 'welcomes me aboard' so to speak, then asked "How much scripture have you memorized"? I was dumbstruck ( no jokes)... and politely said that it's more important to me that I comprehend the Bible rather than have a memorization contest. I told him that I understand memorization certainly has its place, but it's not the reason God loves me. I was fortunate to see someone I know and gave a quick thank you and goodbye to the guy. His face was 'dumbstruck'. I thought only atheists were ignorant, but with this guys question to me on WEEK 2 , it seems I was mistaken Edit... I forgave him.
I have a big on my face after reading this, Raid.

God bless you richly, my brother and friend.

I'd make fun of you guys for all using the same words. But since it seems to be all about the "Word", I think I'll give that one a pass. ;)
APF doesn't come in screaming at others about how stupid they are. APF doesn't spam NST with the same tired topic 30 times a month. APF doesn't link to some kook in his mom's basement telling you how to, "Be afraid. Be very afraid" of the world falling down around you. And, when APF is proven wrong, he acknowledges he made a mistake and moves on, rather than harping about "sheeple."

You seem to presume to know the mind of God.
