KATD League Season II - SMACK TALK Thread

Here we go, gents. Tomorrow this time, we will run the first half of our week one schedule. As is the trend int he NFL, we will kick it off with the Super Bowl Champs:

Dilbert Princes of Insufficient Light @ Team PatsFan.

Also tomorrow will be Auggie @ GiveUp, Femurov @ Yellowknifer, and our newest team owner Ariscotle Sea-Apes travelling to Xulu Bak.

Please welcome Ariscotle to the mix. He takes over the abandoned Avelek team. This is an old pro at Action!PC Football, so be prepared to be schooled, gentlemen. I believe he is registering for a kffl ID and hopefully will be here shortly to smack talk the rest of us. Alrighty, let the season begin!

Well that was a strange game. Likely first of many. 7 sacks of Tarkenton, 7!

    And yet, PatsFan out-stated Dilbert.

In total yardage, TOP, total first downs, 3rd down efficiency and even red zone efficiency. Montana and the offense scores just 1 TD (the winner)

    Crazy...

Yeah, that was a ludicrous game. If my defense didn't eat Tarkenton, I'd have been blown out by 80 points.

On the bright side for PF, Tarkenton threw for 3 TDs; not as helpful as it sounds, since one of them was for my team, but still...

I know. Fran did ok. Yep the interception and the ST TDs were killers.

This is the thing about these type of computer simulations. There is a random element here that is almost always hard to explain.

For example. I can't explain why my offensive line has turned into sewage. This was also in the exhibition season as well. They aren't THAT bad.

It will be an interesting season.

Some random thoughts from the first four games of the season:

    * So, Dilbert had basically one weakness and that was that he had no KR. He drafts Abe Woodson and what does he do in his first game? He takes a ball 101 yards and wins the game MVP awards. This team is going to be tough to beat. We have an early favorite for Rookie of the Year.
    * Two KRs win game MVPs as Dante Hall won it as well.
    * Xulu Bak was rude to our new team owner. However, I think it was more of a case that Ariscotle's team shot tehmselves in the foot. 5 turnover, 3 of them (2 fumbles and a pick) from backup QB Norm Van Brocklin in about 4 minutes of work.
    * Femurov is another team with internal problems. 11 penalties and 0 for 9 on 3rd and 4th downs. Yikes!
    * Great game between PatsFan and Dilbert with a last minute comeback. Great way to start off the new season. Hope we get some more good ones tomorrow.

BAM...1-0 for Team GiveUp...not sure how Dante Hall got MVP without a return TD but I'll take it...the X Factor lives on

What's weird about this is I went back and looked at his stats and they werent even good. He caught one ball for 6 yards. He returned 3 kicks for 57 yards (19.0 avg.) He returned 5 punts for 50 yards. Rather average stats. Below average on the KRs even.

    Better options would have been:
    * Adrian Peterson who had 94 yards rushing on 20 carries, 4.7 avg.
    * Willie Buchanan, who only plays in the Dime package, had 4 tackles and an interception he returned 26 yards.
    * Leo Nomellini who had 3 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and 5 hurries.

Some random thoughts from the games today:
    * 5 turnovers killed FinsFan, but he did generate 415 yards of Offense.
    * So far, all the teams that drafted retunr men in this latest draft have to be pleased. Milburn for BHA today averaged almost 31 yards on 4 returns.
    * Elway was spectacular today. Offensive Player of the Week?
    * How did Bobby Mitchell win MVP in the Goose vs Spank game? The sim seems to give the MVP to return men if there is not a dominant offensive performance.
    * Goose got lucky to win that game considering they fumbled the rock 5 times.
    * The Goose vs Spankov game was a battle of back-ups that both started last season as the starters. W Moon left the game after two passes and A Rodgers was injured in the 2nd quarter.
    * The ChildPlease @ Shanny game looks close, but after further review the score was 37-14 Shanny with 4 minutes left in the game.
    * CP had 478 total yards of offense (tops in the league by a wide margin) but only generated 31 yards on the ground on 21 carries.
    * CP had three 100-yard receivers in their game.

    Week Two Thoughts:
    * HUGE upset for Shananahan (6-10 last season) over the Champ Dilbert Princes. The stats were about as close as they could be. Montana tried to bring Dilbert back and threw a 17 yard TD to TO with 23 seconds remaining, but they couldnt convert the 2-pointer for the tie.
    * Auggie got a win on the last play of the game as Staubach scrambled (unless he was ballsy enough to call his own number on the last play of the game) 14 yards for the winning score.
    * For the second time in two games, Goose's game has become a battle of the back-up QBs as GiveUp lost new starter Philip Rivers early in the 1st quarter and A Rodgers left in the 2nd quarter. Rivers had started off hot.
    * It will be interesting to see who wins our own Civil War tomorrow as Femurov plays Spankov.

Ok. Got one in the win column, even if it did take a last minute drive to tie it up and a win in overtime...

Nice... 2 wins in a row for PatsFans United.

Nice job team. Weird game for me. Kinda opposite of my gameplan but awesome none the less.

Franco Harris got all seasons carries in one game lol.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. Hunter S Thompson

A 99 yard TD pass with seconds to go to give GiveUp the game?
