What's your favorite draft position for '13?

    Assuming a 12 man 5x5 redraft

Where would you like to pick from?

I've done quite a few at 6-8 and really like it.

In my NFBC draft this week, I want Harper so I think I will need a spot at least 7 or later to land Bryce on the way back in the second round.

I pretty much don't mind drafting at any position with the exception of picks 4 thru 6. I guess my favorite spot is pick 3 because you get what' left out of Braun, Trout, and Cabrera. Then if I don't get top 3 then I prefer 10 or 11.

I gotta say. I like the higher up.

Getting 3 of the top 25 players (i should say hitters since I'd take hitters) is better than 3 of the top 35.

However it depends on your league and if you know the drafters. You might miss out on a position run if you're not smack in the middle of a round.

I really want Upton and Harper so I think I want 10-12

Wound live 3 but know Upton won't make it back and Harper has about a 25% chance.

I gave to rank my preferences in the draft (KDS NFBC) for my draft on Saturday

I'd have to study the ADPs to say for sure. I was basically talking in generalities.

I like pick 8 or 9 so I can pick up Verlander then another top picher towards the beginning of the 2nd round. You have far fewer pitching positions, and appearances by these pitchers, trying to get the same amount of points 10 starting hitting spots playing almost everyday is trying to get you.

You're the type of Baseball fantasy drafter I love and try to get in leagues with. Every pitcher that get drafted early allows a hitter to slip a spot closer to my pick. There's just so much pitching value out here you can find plenty of help late especially in 10-12 team leagues. Pretty much in those small leagues all you need is one Ace and then just wait on pitching. On the other hand it sucks getting stuck with a crappy position player.

I do pretty well in my leagues.

If you have 5 SP, 1 SP counts for about 16% of your pitching stats.

If you have 10 hitters, 1 hitter counts for 10% of your hitting stats. And most hitters aren't great at both HR's and SBs, so each hitter is effectively getting you about 8% of your stats.

This makes pitchers more valuable than hitters.

I find that there's a more of a dropoff between good and middling pitchers, than there is with hitters. I also find it much easier to snag a very hot hitter in FA than a pitcher.

    Exclamation

Just found out I'm picking at the turn, 12. I was thinking Upton/Harper but wonder what would happen if I grabbed Verlander and Strasburg.

I did a mock this way and it was tough filling out my 15 offensive spots.

Usually, at least one of them is gone by 12. Sometimes both.
