And I kind of agree with SD.. Who, exactly, is offended by the name? A bunch a well-to-do whities pretending to be offended for the Native Americans?

Even if the name isn't deemed offensive as a whole, I think a logo change would be a good idea. Keep the Native American imagery, and ditch the dated Indian head. I'd love an update of the feather helmet.

that's interesting. I wonder why that would be.

Warriors is the logical next name. HTTW

I wonder if one of the Native American tribes would let them use their name like the Seminoles do at Florida State. There has to be a cool name out there.

There is a story that some Indian representative approached GP Marshall about changing the logo FROM the "R" to the current look, that it was an honorific. I'll see if I can find it. If so, there is a nothing but crazy irony there.

I think you are correct about the logo change. The logo isn't the problem. The name is the problem.

The logo isn't dated so much as the rendering of the Indian is. You could freshen up the Indian head and still keep it.

You know I just thought of something that may be a good compromise: Washington Braves, their original name. Same logo (or refresh it), return to the original that is not anything that can be conceived as a slur, but maintain the tradition, the band, the theme in general, the colors, etc. Even the song could still work as you can always enunciate the word "Bra-aves" as two syllables. Or hell, just leave the song alone since it doesn't appear in any official marketing that is trademarked. They did at one time edit out the word "scalp em" in favor of "swamp em". So they can edit the song if they need to.

I could get behind that. But Nats fans may not stomach it :)

Nope. Braves suck swollen blue whale nuts just like Monuments does and every other name that's not Warriors.

That would be cool to use on the spear and feathers helmet. I still like the OG warrior chief more though personally.

For the record, not my Redskins concept. Wouldn't want to pass that off as my own. That belongs to a very talented artist named Fraser Davidson, who has designed logos/identities for many teams around the world.

Love that Logo. I'd endorse a switch to that.
I bleed Burgundy, I piss gold, and crap on Blue Stars!
