Or as we have done already - theough we might actually have slipped back a fourth time already... but we will do everything to let the wealthy keep their money.

In the mean time the right wing conservatives are having a treat, because (a) they do not pay the price of the economic mess, and on collaboration with the neo-liberal idiots in Brussels they might tear apart everything of the social services built up between 1920-1995 in just 10 years...

Do you get upset when a contractor shows up, demolishes a rickety old shed that's been built onto with cardboard and masking tape for decades, and then builds a new shed using proper construction techniques?

At some point you have to look in the mirror and say "We built a crappy shed, and it's falling apart."

Is there a point to us arguing anymore?

I look at GDP through the depression of 1920 and the only Fed intervention I've seen is what you posted- to lower rates on the tail end of the thing. Meanwhile you could find out that the Fed chairman took a dump at 11:59pm the night before the official end of the depression and you would say that the fed took action and Mises articles are all wrong etc.

    What's the point?

Yet it has been proven time and again that the neo-liberal ideas about construction DO NOT work - except for the wealth happy few.

And the building was - mostly - not so rickety. What is actually happening is that the contractor has first trashed a perfectly solid place himself, then shows up to tear it apart, and has others (a) take the blame for the state of the building, (b) has others pay for taking it apart, (c) has other pay for reconstructing the new building, and (d) then reaps the profit from the reconstruction.

Continue to tap dance if you want to, or just admit that Von Mises is and always was, full of ****. Hayek, on the other hand, at least has some legitimacy.

You are such a joy when you delve into economics. I can only reminisce to the days when Paul Volker was so accommodating to Reagan with his monetary policy. Yes, they were the good ole days. Why I remember, as if it were yesterday, when banks and mortgage companies were free floating 16% mortgages as if capital was free. How else could the economy have thrived. Anything else is impossible.

You're right. Cardboard holds up well to rain. I've seen it in Center City Philly.

Yeah wasn't that the 80's recession when the issue was sky-high interest rates? So similar to today.
