Right now the lack of support for those who leave the service is a bit staggering imo -
291,000 are uninsured - with neither private health insurance nor VA coverage.

It just feels like the rhetoric of the government constantly waving the hero flag for those who serve is not indicative of the way they're treated. 9 months or more for a wait list is unacceptable. Illegal immigrants get quicker service than this.

    Shhhhh...You cant say that...
Ignorance is those who disparage believers....12 They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty of the LORD—the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, the young of the flocks and herds. They will be like a well-watered garden, and they will sorrow no more.
13 Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

That's fine, but it shouldn't need to be that way.

The military guys here are blasting this dude...not, of course, for his role in the bin Laden kill, but this attention-grab. They all smell something fishy here.

The fishy thing is more around the dude who wrote the book. His version of what happened that day is in greater question. This guy's version apparently matches what others have reported and what the crime scene resembled.

As for an attention grab, maybe it is. But he is drawing attention to what is an incredible injustice. The VA themselves admit to a minimum 9 month wait. That is unacceptable. The overall lack of support for these guys once they leave is also unacceptable on so many levels. No wonder you see some of them snapping.

Again, it's his own fault he's not covered. There were more than a few options for him, and he declined them all; some of which he had to jump through more than a few hoops to turn down.

I'll take your word on that - but it doesn't justify the VA saying it's a min. 9 month wait for health care to kick in for others.

I been in the system for decades. There wasn't any wating at all. The VA has to treat all Vets. If you're there for a non-service related problem, then you're going to find yourself lower on the priority list. The quickest way to get your foot in their door is to step into one of thier ER's

Given the article at face value, which we must do until "the shooter" comes out of the shadows and clarifies, he screwed the pooch. All of the options are/were there for a seemless transition to becoming a private citizen. Someone told me that if he wanted he could of got "walking around duty" to fulfill his last 3 years if he wanted. They do protect their own. Bronsteins' "nobody told him about the 5 years" is bull****. Actually he would get an automatic extention past the 5 years for all of his injuries in the article, herniated disk etc,...

Anyho something stinks and I bet the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Not to mention his eval for disability; with all the damage he's easily at 40% plus. That's a guaranteed govt. job.
