    George Wilson SS Cut

Bills released SS George Wilson. The move clears $2.9 million in base salary off the books, bringing Buffalo's total Monday savings to $6.4 million when combined with WLB Nick Barnett's release. Pro Football Focus graded Wilson as the No. 8 safety in the entire league in 2012, but the new Bills coaching staff obviously didn't regard him as highly. Wilson turns 32 this offseason. He can still cover and fills hard in run support, so he should have a good chance to land on his feet. Feb 11 - 2:15 PM

Any interest in Wilson as a stopgap at safety?

Yep. He's better than what we've got. Makes sense to bring in and see what he's got left.

Only if a vet like him comes cheap. they want to go young, smart, fast, tough, etc. Some of the cuts - guys won't get contracts very quickly. Then you can get a solid player without overspending. Guys approx 30+ are looking for a big contraxct, or their last contract. Not the way to rebuild this team. We want hungry players.

The only reason I would see this as a good fit would be for a quick two year run. I don't like the idea of drafting two safeties this year and running two rooks out there.

This way you you could get your starter in Rd 2 this year to pair up with Wilson and either grab another safety to groom a little later in the draft or wait and pick up another safety in next years draft.

I guess I don't see the point. I'd rather trot out a young kid who could potentially turn into a player. A 32yo isn't going to sign a 2year deal to play on a bad team.

I'd like to have someone back there that actually knows what they are doing in this league.

Fine to bring him in for a look if it's for the right price. More competition the better. Doesn't prevent you from signing a younger FA and drafting a safety.

ridiculous.....George Wilson is garbage. He is nothing close to what he once was.
"I need to do a better job of that"
