Chip Kelly mindset

As an Eagles fan the first thing that comes to mind is the Eagles need to address the atrocious defense.

Do you think Chip Kelly comes in with that same philosophy?

I think Chip's first focus may not be on the defensive side of the ball....I know that is hard to believe after watching this team the past few years.

What would cause Chip to receive the most negative press and have people calling for his head? I would think it would be if the offense fails to impress. He was brought here as an offensive guru and the bar has been set very high. Yes, he does not have HIS QB yet, but I don't think people will give him a pass if they don't put up points.

If they put up points and the defense continues to stink I would think it would be easier to have Billy Davis take the fall next year and then move onto further focusing on fixing the D in year 2. Chip's philosophy has always been to focus on the O and no matter how many points his D gives up...he will always outscore the opponent.

Now obviously I don't think they ignore the D in this draft. They probably will use the majority of the picks on D, but I think might be a surprise on the upside in terms of the number of offensive draft picks we see...

I know this is a radical thought.....just wanted to stir the pot a bit.

I don't know what the hell Chip Kelly is doing. I'm giving him a chance though (i have no choice!). But honestly, the Chip Kelly start is similar to Andy's, only Andy brought in Doug Pederson 5 min after this hiring (and subsequently lost my trust) and Chip hasn't brought in Dennis Dixon yet.

Don't know what to think about Kelly. I expect an O that scores but how and with who is up for grabs. That said, there's no reason to discard what you said. Who knows? I feel as much in the dark now as I did 2 months ago but we owe it to him to allow him to prove to us he can make it all work.

You have stirred the pot very nicely, and I agree to a point, that he will focus himself on the O. He is a smart coach, and I think they'll try to grab some good defenders in FA to pave the way to get the O moving at a fast pace from the get-go. This is exciting, because of who Chip is, and what we think he will bring to the team.
