Yes, but he was the Rams DC and they basically let him go after the suspension.

I personally wouldnt' have relinquished his rights since they didn't have to pay him for last year anyway. That's all.

Rams hire Lions DB Coach Tim Walton as Defensive Coordinator.

He's had an impressive list of players drafted in the 1st round from his college coaching days. Hard to fault him much for Detroit's DB play the last season. I like the hire better than Sing...I'd rather take a shot on an up-and-comer than a retread/never was. Especially considering the defensive coaching staff that surrounds him in St Louis with former DC's Chuck Cecil and Dave McGinnis on the staff.

Lol, what? Why is Walton more of an up and comer than Singletary and less of a "never was"? The way people have pigeonholed SIngletary is silly. He wasn't a good HC and was hired before he was ready. He was by all reports a good assistant coach and I see no reason he doesn't deserve a shot at a DC job some day.

Say what you want about the Rams' coaching staff being cretins of the worst order, but I'll pass on a guy that pulls down his pants in the locker room and points to ass and tells his players they're getting "f***ed out there"

There's motivation and then there's just silliness... Players tune out silliness.

This is all my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong about Singletary, but he's always struck me as a coach that wants his players to play with the same emotion he did. That's just not realistic in modern locker rooms.

NFL coaches are prone to such antics. Doesn't bother me.

He seems best when working as a position coach. He seems to really be able to focus on technique

I know it's not relevant anymore regarding the Rams, but yes to this.

And because of it, IMO Sing is still a better HC candidate than coordinator candidate, sadly enough.

So Singltary and the Lions former DB coach.

Titus is just going to have mind bullets flying across the field at him in St. Louis.

I can't imagine Titus indeared himeself to Walton sucker punching Louis Delmas in camp last year ;)

Have you watched the Vikings Linebackers the last two years?

Since EJ Henderson got hurt and was forced into retirement we extended Greenway, who while good, doesn't make as many big plays (INT, FF, Sacks) as a guy with his paycheck should, and we have a slug like Jasper Brinkley and a stiff like EJ's little sister (yes, I'm ripping off Parcells) Erin Henderson, both of whom have actually regressed since getting starting jobs. There us no depth either, that's why these guys who have no business starting have to start.

Were it not for Frazier being his friend and former teammate, Mike would have been out of a job a long time ago.

Look, maybe Mike is a terrible coach. I doubt he would have been the choice to promote to HC for SF if that were the case, but regardless. All I"m saying is, we probably don't know and the fact that he failed as a HC shouldn't eliminate him from contention. The Vikings LBs are not getting better with anyone coaching them though, lets make that clear. They suck because they lack talent. Brinkley is big, slow and stupid and Erin Henderson lacks talent beyond being a STer. THey didn't regress when they got starting jobs, they got exposed as backups, which happens when less talented guys get promoted to a starting job they aren't qualified for.

Greenway has never been a big play guy, but he's a stud. I've always liked what he brings to the table.
