How does the college signing period work? When can HS players actually sign letters of intent and turn them into the NCAA? When is the last day a HS player can sign an LOI and still play for that school in that next year?

There's always this big deal surrounding national signing day for HS football players, but you never hear anything about HS basketball players except they've given there verbal. So I'd like to find out ho the whole HS basketball signing works. Anyone here know how it works? I tried googling it and ended up even more confused.
