    Confirmed: Smokers are Crazy

Not sure what benefit the study is, I mean if you are mentally ill, I think smoking is down the list of issues in your life.

Sorry. I thought the headline was funny.

After all, I have been told you have to be crazy to smoke these days...well now there is a medical study to back it up.

    The article doesn't surprise me.

I had a friend who worked at a "group home" and his clients had a limited budget every week. So, my friend would give them something like $30 a week...and they would go straight out and buy cigarettes and lotto tickets...and come back broke. Then the next day, they would beg for more money because they had smoked up an entire carton.

Ok now you are making me sad, so I guess making a thread about the mentally ill was not all that good of an idea.

Makes perfect sense to me... If you've ever been very upset or whatever about something, smokiing seems to be preferable to the other alternatives like pulling out your hair, doing huge quantities of mind altering drugs etc.

So what does that make the other 70%? Mildly wacky?

The truth is that most committed people just don't have much to do throughout the day...I mean there's group counseling, art, breakfast, dinner, medication time, and etc...but a whole lotta sitting around...which goes hand into hand with smoking.
