Man, Moss gets a lot of flack for nothing....that pass was high. Maybe Randy circa 98' could have caught that....
I don't get why people hate Moss...but whatever...
Because he's an arrogant, selfish bastard who is basically Terrell Owens with slightly more talent and far less humor and creativity.
“My great-aunt Jennifer ate a box of candy every day of her life. She lived to be 102, and when she had been dead for three days, she still looked better than you do now!”—Sheridan Whiteside (via Moss Hart), The Man Who Came To Dinner
Moss is taking a lot of flack for this but I don't think it had anything to do with effort. The pass was very high and it seemed like he wasn't even sure it was intended for him the way he reacted. Moss is a different kind of personality but he really wanted to win a SB and I highly doubt he'd be dogging it in this game. He even put a shoulder down and laid into a Raven defender on one catch he made near the sideline. I think he's getting criticized because of who he is more than what he did or didn't do in the game.
This. And if you've been following reports about the 9ers all year, Moss dogging it (in the Super Bowl of all cases) is waaaaaayyyy out of character with his tenure on the team this year.
If people want to be emotionally invested in hating Randy Moss I don't really care either way, but blaming him for not trying to catch that pass is batty.
Edit: I mean, look at the play (starting at 1:14) fom the field-level angle behind Kaepernick. Blaming Moss is craaaaaazzzzzzzzy. I love the dogsh!t out of Kaep, but that was his worst throw of the year by a wide margin.
I disagree, I look at that and see a guy who quit on a route because he thought he was going to get blown up. He didn't even jump and pretty much stopped.

Seriously? Moss is what, 6'5"? The shot is at eye level and at the point that the ball passes him he's taking up less than half of the frame and the ball is still somewhere above out of frame. That pass is minimum six or seven feet above him and a little behind him. You can see it wobbling down behind him down the field (just a complete and total failure of a throw).
I'm a 9ers fan and I have motivation to insist our QB moving forward is infallible and our one year veteran rental who is out the door anyway is a bum, but that's just 100% on Kaepernick and 0% on Moss (which Kaepernick has also said, fwiw).
