    2. This isn't the late 1700s, the country you long for is gone.

The most important rules and lessons in history which were put in the Constitution need to be applied to today. It is NOT an archaic document which is wholly inapplicable today. The original INTENT is what is critical. The Constitution CLEARLY was written with the intent not to let other countries' leaders influence our affairs. There are all kinds of clear intentions put in the Constitution and it's up to our leaders to make sure they craft our laws as closely to those principles as possible or we will be torn apart by those leftists who meddle and rip apart this Republic. This government is CLEARLY too big. It's not even a question in my mind. This govt has FAR exceeded the intentions of what the founders described as "tyranny". If alive today, the founders would say we clearly have gotten FAR FAR FARRRRRRRRRR away from the original intent.

Laws like ceding our Assets to an impartial arbiter, to be paid to the British Crown.

Or paying tribute to Barbary pirates so they wouldn't attack our ships.
The consistent factor of all of your dissatisfying relationships and failures is you.

    R.W. 09.21.10 I love you.

Gotta love the avoidance of the whole point. But then again, that's what I expect.

How am I avoiding the whole point. I pointed out two specific examples of something you say the founders never intended to be Constitutional.

That was ultimately in response to you saying this

I show where the founders do that, several times.

    You ignore it.

Intent and true action are different things. We'd all like to have a perfect world but certain realities squash that. Ok, what you're saying is that because certain realities forced them to act against their intent, what I'm saying is that their intent was still to prevent foreign servitude to external powers. The founders had different challenges because their external forces were true THREATS to them while the external forces I'm talking about today WERE INVITED IN. There is a big difference.

I love the "that ship has sailed" comments.

The Constitution is a "living document" but we can't undo the stupid things we've tacked onto it, but we can absolutely tack on more stupid things to it.
