    Ravens hire Castillo

He will start right away as a consultant for the bowl and be run game coordinator next season. Interesting that Harbaugh wanted to bring him into the fold.

Castillo is a good guy. I hope he has success. Reid threw him under the bus in a bad way...

Castillo is a good coach. He was just the victim of one of those Andy Reid "I'm smarter than everyone else" moves. He will do well in short order, and will probably be an OC somewhere one day. I can also see him as a college HC. Recruits would fall in love with the guy.

Hate how Castillo was treated here at the end - by Reid and the fans - he deserves every success.
While cynics whine about what the Eagles haven't done. Real Eagle fans focus on what we should do.

In the end I think Reid did Juan a disservice. Seems he was looking for a scapegoat.

However Castillo lobbied for a job that he was not qualified for. in any other scenario he would not even get a DC interview with any team in the NFL and he banked on his relationship with Reid to make that jump.

My guess is that Castillo needed a job and Harbaugh found one for him after he failed to get a head coaching job in college, as rumored. I'm sure he had other options but probably not great ones.

You can look at the numbers and make the case that Castillo was actually doing pretty good as the DC. The mistake, I believe was more of timing and structure then competence. He was installed after the assistants had already been selected and with it being year 13 of the Reid era, people were not inclined to be patient with him.

Reid really messed up his whole staff the last couple of years. Washburn, Mudd and April were all old guys who were poor hires. He departed from the normal approach of going young and it cost him and the team. You even look at what he is doing in KC and I think its interesting that he did not bring Marty along! In retrospect, maybe he should have fired Marty, promoted Pederson or Castillo to OC, and hired from someone like Donatell from outside to be the DC and let him pick his staff.

Still, in his defense, every one of these coaches now has the same job elsewhere.

Washburn hired by Lions. Guess all that badmouthing of Castillo didn't hurt him any.

Jim Schwartz and Washburn have a long history. I don't think Schwartz cares about anything of Washburn's tenure in Philly.

Lions run the wide 9 already. Washburn likely taught it to Schwartz in the first place.
