I like this hire a lot. Good sign that Chip isn't going to just surround himself with yes men.

Yeah I'm not sure why this is considered a good hire. Seemed like were were going outside the box and then this? Meh. Don't one anyone that had anything to do with the old system.

I'm okay with it. Kelly's calling the plays anyway.

^^^^ This. Shurmer's just a guy who's been around with experience. He'll be used as a consultant and helper with diagnosing. Chip will be calling all the plays here.

That's not too much. I had heard that it was $8M/year. They're just paying him basically what Reid was getting, right?

Agreed. if you want an NFL veteran as OC - Shurmur is the best fit atm. If you want an OC who will become help start a new coaching tree, Phillip Montgomery from Baylor is a top candidate. Amazing mentors, tremendous playcalling experience, major developer of talentl; and RGIII's coach. If we want a candidate who will help us battle the strongest QB in our division, the guy who coached him would be a huge asset.
While cynics whine about what the Eagles haven't done. Real Eagle fans focus on what we should do.

McGovern was the defensive coordinator/LBs coach for Boston College although this past season he was just the LBs coach. Probably the LBs coach.

It's okay to get these college guys as position coaches, but I'd really like to see them hire someone like Romeo Crennel to oversee the defense.
WHAT????? Say it isn't so!!! We won't have WR Coach Culley anymore???? Things going to go to hell now...

I get the joke, but we already don't. David Culley's the new AHC/WR coach in Kansas City.
