    Earl Weaver was permanently ejected

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-bi...3706--mlb.html

82 years old. On an Orioles fantasy cruise. Died in his cabin after dinner.

(We've all had chefs like that ...)

Working (not hard) on a cruise ship at 82 -- there are worse ways to go than that. Especially as he was a smoker, and hence shouldn't have expected super-duper long life.
APF doesn't come in screaming at others about how stupid they are. APF doesn't spam NST with the same tired topic 30 times a month. APF doesn't link to some kook in his mom's basement telling you how to, "Be afraid. Be very afraid" of the world falling down around you. And, when APF is proven wrong, he acknowledges he made a mistake and moves on, rather than harping about "sheeple."

    Rest in Peace Earl.

Far and away the greatest manager in O's history. Underappreciated in his time, probably because of his temper. A true winner, and a deserving HoF manager.

I am very happy that he was able to attend the unveiling of his statue at Camden Yards last season.

A great manager who really knew his baseball. Old school. Some of his tirades against the umps were legendary.

We'll keep our fingers crossed and keep him out of our prayers...

Earl's tantrums were some of the high points of my childhood. Great or not, he was an entertaining man.

Some of the best Weaver stories were in the book The Umpire Strikes Back by Ron Luciano.

    RIP Earl.

This has been making the rounds here in Maryland. NOT SAFE FOR WORK. It was a local radio show and for the record it didn't air, this was a test broadcast.

Yes, that was manager's corner. I planted some tomato plants in Earl's memory.

And for those who assume that was someone doing an impression of Weaver - it really was Weaver. Of course, he was doing it as a joke - I think.

This past season, the O's did special pre-game shows for Earl, Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Cal Jr, Jim Palmer, and Eddie Murray - and commemorated each one with a statue. Earl looked very frail but still has some of the old spark in him. I started watching the O's in the late 60's - when my dad took me to an O's game (still use the O's trashcan that he bought me that day), so Earl passing is like losing a bit of my childhood. Frank and Brooks better hang around for a LOT more years.
I use stats like a drunk uses lampposts - for support rather than illumination.
