Heard that 4 different voice experts have come to the same conclusson, that the voice on those messages is in fact a woman.
With all do respect, it's people like you that can't separate an athlete that you see on T.V., from a normal human being that's the problem. It's kinda sick really..at least if you have the ability to see the big picture of things.. I'm sure there are some decent soap operas still on the air if your life is so boring.

The thing with most ordinary people, is that they don't understand that athletes and people that they read in the news are real people. They'll vehemently form opinions and take sides, until that same situation happens to them, or someone close to them...then they'll turn 180 on it and turn out to be more hypocritical than Wesley Snipes telling someone how to do their taxes.

Why do people do this? Many reasons, but underlying them all is the simple fact that their lives are boring. No getting around that.

I think it's part hoax, part him lying out of his ass still. He's hiding something. He wants us to believe he really is this dumb/naive? Dumb people don't try to admit they're dumb. They do the opposite in fact. But he wants us to believe he could be taken this easily for that long. His story just doesn't add up.

Clearly there was something off about his relationship and he obviously started picking up on it. He lied about it to his own family so his dad wouldn't put an end to it. Right there we know in his head, some alarms are going off, he felt the need to lie to the people he trusts the most. He says he couldn't meet up with her in Hawaii because she said he brothers had the rental car. Hey Manti, why don't you drive to meet her instead? The island is small, it is not hard to meet up. She lives in Cali, where does all flights from the mainland have to stop before going to Hawaii? Cali. Couldn't once meet up with her then? Stuff like that. It's obvious this Tuiasasopo guy had something for Manti, but the parts that don't add up is why Manti just played along and rolled with it when it was obvious something was up. No one can be that naive and blind for that long. This is where the doubt lies and he's lying IMO about something.

I don't blame him for the lying if he found out it was a hoax and too embarrassed to admit it.

I hope none of the other rumors are true. Even as a Michigan man, I'm a huge Te'o fan. Anything other than this would just be crushing for him.

As you said to me with all due respect you are being an A-hole. Again. I am interested in this story becuse it is interesting. Te'o is famous, this is not Arnie from accounting here. So of course it is more interesting to us than had it happened to a "normal person". I'm thinking when John Lennon was shot you reacted differently than the story of a random shooting victim the next night. Te'o was on national TV talking about a dead girlfriend, it was a heartwarming story that the sporting nation latched on to. We are now trying to figure out what the Hell happened. We've never seen a story like it before so yeah it's intersting. I am not forming my opinion on the guy because he is famous, I'm basing it on the fact that he pulled at the nation's heart strings while lying his ass off to the camera. This is news, sorry this needed to be explained to you.

If you can't figure that out then, as they used to say in radio, I suggest you turn the dial to the left. Leave those of us interested in the story to continue without your idiotic comments on how you think our lives are panning out.

With respect to everyone, professionals trained in lie detection also see through Te'o. They see through liars faster than most, while many lay people find themselves remaining incredulous, because they want to believe in the honesty and innocence of people, because they haven't encountered such a high level of lying in their own lives, because they don't have a problem with seemingly small lies, and/or a myriad of other reasons. Professionals in lie detection have much better spidey senses, if you will.

Many of them have even already characterized Te'o as being at the level of a compulsive/psychopathic/sociopathic type of liar. (You can do a Google search on this.) I don't know the distinctions between types of liars, but I do know that I can point out a large number of Te'o's lies myself that occurred in different circumstances, that he alone must have been responsible for a large number of lies, and that I don't see the level of remorse, contrition or emotion that I'm accustomed to.

I also think that I'm very good at finding excuses or reasons for each individual lie. But, in Te'o's case, the individual excuses and reasons keep conflicting with each other in ways that seem unexplainable.

The first step I took in trying to understand this mess is drawing an analogy to becoming addicted to playing a video game. Even most of we older folks can understand the phenomena of being addicted to a video game. Kids can spend extraordinary numbers of hours a day playing electronic, online and free long distance phone games. But, makie uppie fun and games at a national level raises the stakes to a level that even normal children at a young age are aware of. We're not talking normal children here, which is partially why the nation's interest has been peaked.

My opinion only!!! MOO, MOO, MOO!!!

For personal reasons involving a recent experience with lying that was far beyond what I had experienced before, I looked into lying. My two favorite places are Eyes for Lies and Statement Analysis (i.e., the one by Peter Hyatt):

    http://blog.eyesforlies.com/

    http://statement-analysis.blogspot.com/

They've both posted multiple times on this and may continue to post on this. See if their analyses of people like Te’o and Armstrong ring true to you. I’ve also read expert opinions in many other places. If you want me to, I’ll try to remember my Google searches for other opinions, which included law enforcement.

Good stuff Aussie. Since you are into this story as well let me ask you: what do you think happened? Did he get duped, then lied to hide his embarrassment as is the common opinion?

Thanks Davekn. My personal opinion? Based on the information available so far? My guess is that he was in on the hoax from early on, if not from the beginning, because many of his own accounts of early events are unusually inconsistent with each other (i.e., hard for good excuse makers to explain and reconcile with other excuses). My guess is that whether Tuiasosopo taught him this game ahead of time or taught him this game by pulling a hoax on him first (as in, you got me good on that one, ha ha), it tickled his funny bone enough to strike up a friendship, to continue the friendship, and to even yuck it up and actively participate in carrying on an ever growing hoax at a national level.

I think his lying is far beyond normal childish fun and games. I think he loves to lie and use lying to his advantage. I don’t see embarrassment in his demeanor. I see a duper’s delight. So many people are trying to apply adult logic to him, when what we are witnessing may simply be a person who loves lying.

Football is an area that homosexuality is still widely frowned upon. Notice that there are not any "known" homosexuals playing now. Under line the word "KNOWN".

Regular guys still don't want gay guys on there team. And I have to agree with them.
