I think what you have to do is simply make the QB pay every time he runs it ... if these QB's start missing games you "may" start seeing less of it.
Yes. Exactly. Thank you. Zone Read is here to stay - which will increase 4-3 defensive schemes again (best defense against it).

And the Skins are too with RG3. You pay millions to your QB and i think that kind of offense treats them like a sacrificial lamb
No. Zone read works even without a mobile QB. Enter any number of screens/bubble screens or passes. The QB only has to be a threat to make a play - either with his feet or with a quick pass. Plus - like everything - the better your oline is, the more durable your QB becomes. And finally - a QB like Foles can execute the zone read and run... he won't get as many yards as the faster/quicker qbs, but he will make steady gains if they leave him open to do so. Plus he is more naturally durable than the smaller qbs and smart enough to slide. Someone on our coaching staff will need to be well versed with the intricacies of the zone read...

I don't want to speculate on RGIII's health because I'm tired of the exercise, seems there is always an "expert" with an "expert" opinion.

As for the thread this whole read option thing started in Washington with Griffin. I have been saying all year that DCs in the NFL are too damn good and they'll figure it out over the offseason. For that reason I think the jury is still a bit out on Kap. He is a good passer but will he ever be a great passer? Because that is what he's going to have to learn how to do. And this is why I'm still optimistic on RGIII. He came into the league as a great passer and actually exceeded expectations there.

Foles looks like Bernie Kosar out there. He can't run that!

He would have to basically run a totally different type of modern offense--more like a hurry up Tom Brady style offense. Of course he ain't Brady and it probably would not work as well...
