It seems to me that people will never consider someone a "football guy" unless they played in the NFL or college. No amount of experience in football front offices will ever remove that label of "not a football guy."

But that's just what I gather when these conversations come up. I personally don't hold with the idea that people who don't play can't evaluate talent; how did Matt Millen's playing experience help him? How did it hurt Kevin Colbert, given the Steelers' couple Super Bowl wins in his time there?

Wings, the question then becomes "Does Jon Gruden want to coach?" Until we know that, building him up as a possibility is more likely to lead to disappointment than anything else.

Its not only about playing football...its about scouting. Howie has done neither. Thats what I mean when I say football guy. The best GMs are either former long time scouts or players.

After listening to Ray Didinger this afternoon, he said the Eagle drafts as far back as 2010 had Howie's involvement and input. Ray said he wrote a column in 2010 ripping the Eagles' draft and Roseman pulled him aside to "give me chapter and verse about why they picked Graham" and he said Roseman was clearly defending the picks from a first hand perspective, not a guy who was defending somebody else's like a loyal employee.

As if that wasn't enough, i turn over to 97.5 and they are having an Eagles Round table discussion and their Eagles insider said the exact same thing about Roseman and Lurie lying about how far Howie's involvement dates back to the Eagles personnel moves.

So swat, i don't say this often but you were right. There is legitimate cause for concern on Roseman's abilities based on his past performance and body of work. Hell i remember the news reporting Rosemans giddy "Hell yeah!" when we were signing all the FA's last year.

That said, there ain't sh*t we can do about it, so all we can do is hope for the best.

I really don't know but we have had plenty of crappy drafts and Roseman wasn't even here. To me, 2012 draft was significantly better than any draft we have had in recent memory. Reid was making the call for a long time and I think I will give credit to Roseman and his team for this past draft.

Not every player is going to turn out but Graham starting making a believer out of me again. I would have preferred Earl Thomas but oh well.

2013 and 2014 will tell the tail. I hope that we have a draft like we had last year. We could really use some good players.

I hope to hell Im wrong but Im not buying what they are selling right now. I do understand why they have to "sell" Howie since he is there..my gripe is that he shouldnt be. Yeah we are stuck with him.thats true so I wont push it too far for now. only gonna depress me more anyway.

It all depends upon the quality of the scouts, and Howie and the coach listening to the recommendations, and making the best decisions. So, we hope that the scouts we have left do their correct homework. We have lost many good scouts over the recent years.Daniel Jeremiah was their qwest coaast scout, and he now is with the NFL Network. Marc Ross was also a good one, as well as Mark McCartney, to name a few. Brian Frigson, was Howie's top resource, and is now the Colts GM. I hope they have added some quality scouts, but I don't know any names.
