to be fair, M5: Jerry Angelo was presented as a legitimate "General Manager," replacing a guy as "Director/VP of Pro Personnel" who was a decent drafter and somewhat more spotty at identifying quality free agents (certainly a more likeable guy, but that's what Mark Hatley was) who had no real say over the direction of the franchise.

that's what Angelo was supposed to be, anyway. of course it turned out that he wasn't (which in hindsight shouldn't be a surprise, considering the background from whence he came and the team for which he worked). he was also a lousy drafter and a decent free agent guy. Emery's not likely to be more than a similarly glorified scout, but hopefully he'll be a better one than his predecessor.

Your Chicago Bears: still learning about this newfangled thing called the "forward pass."

For what it's worth, I remember a lot of us wondering why the McCaskeys let Ted Phillips hire an executive search firm to find Angelo. And I personally got hinky about the guy at his introductory press conference, when he failed to consider that the cameras might be rolling before anyone stepped forward to the podium, and spent a few moments picking his nose.
That the world is explicable is miraculous, and so explanations need not be the undoing of miracles.

After you talk about the hole in her nipple, where do you go with it? You’ve got nothing.

We need models. They're beautiful, they're rich, they travel lots, you don't have to spend that much time with them. Those f-ers that date models, they got it made. My next girlfriend's gonna be a six-foot-tall model. Definitely. Big one. I like those chicks.

I personally got hinky with the guy when he forgot to sign the compensatory draft picks paperwork for Rosey Colvin and then signed the oft injured Warrick Holdman to a big contract.

    What a dumb dick.

Fact is, our new GM stood up there and fired one of our winningest head coaches(56% WR) after a 10-6 season because it wasn't good enough. Now, whether he backs it up is yet to be seen, but hot damn I don't remember his predecessor every instilling this much faith that we will be heading in the direction of contending yearly...

Which to be honest is quite the opposite of the way I normally am with the bears. Pelle, Kaise and the others can tell you i'm one of the most pessimistic and jaded guys out there.
Balderdash. You are a glowing beacon of optimism.
