    They sure can score.....

Sitting here on this snowy day watching past Oregon Football games....One thing is for certain, Chip Kelly can light up a scoreboard. But here are where my concerns are.

    1. Running an option style offense, how many Qb's can stand up to the pounding they will receive from NFL Lb's and safeties?

    2. Can Shady play in this style offense?

    3. All our offensive Linemen were brought in here because of their pass blocking, do Peters, Herremans, Mathis, Kelce have the makeup to be run blockers even when really they are pass blocking?

It was also interesting how Stanford shut the offense down

Wings what is your infactuation with Chip Kelly. How many times have things been reported that are wrong about the Eagles, many many many. Lets wait this one out if they hire Kelly then lets fire away.

I firmly believe the Eagles have contacted him and want to be the first to get him....at first I thought the same thing, nahhh it's BS....I believe now they Eagles have in fact contacted Kelly, and he is their first choice.

That is what I have been saying...So many college coaches have flopped in the NFL...I use to think Spurrier could score on anyone...his offense at Florida was unreal...he left the NFL with tail tucked in a hurry, because he got his ass handed to him in a hurry.

To be fair, nobody is gonna succeed with Patrick Ramsey, Danny Weurffel, or Shane Matthews as your QBs. LOL.

The read option is a different beast than the fun and gun. One is all set up to gash the middle of the field with running plays and then play action over the top. The other was just a lame run and shoot. I think Kelly is an innovative guy, while Spurrier was just June Jones with a few runs called.

Sal Pal was on the other day and said the Lurie was going with a someone who has been a head coach in either college or the pros and that Chip Kelly was his first choice.

So this isn't really anything new.

I would also argue that part of the success of these kinds of offenses is the difference in quaility between teams at the college level - or even college teams in general (consistency/mental strength). In college one player can basically take over a game (and this regularly happens); I mean, how many college super stars are busts, or are not drafted at all... which sould be telling enough... likewise the way many highly touted college coaches turn out to be worse than duds in the NFL.
