OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha Nighthawks have added Maurice Clarett to the active roster.
The United Football League team announced the move Thursday.
Clarett spent last season with the team, calling it a chance to rebuild his life. The former Ohio State star was suspended by the NCAA for taking improper inducements, failed to make it in the NFL, then spent 3½ years in prison for having a hidden gun and holding up two people outside a Columbus, Ohio, bar in 2006.
Clarett spent most of last season backing up Ahman Green as he got back into shape. The Nighthawks finished 3-5 after losing their last four games.
2) I can remember when liberals said prison was not the answer to anything. Well, if you go off this and Mike Vick, then they were wrong and we were right---as usual.
3) The American educational system should be ashamed of itself. It is an absolute mess. The teachers union in California recently put out an ad showing rich people peeing on poor people. So they don't teach and they condem the successful.
4) This is an example of how over drafting a guy will hurt him more than help him. He should never have been taken before the 6th round.
5) I remember many folks around here hating on me for being so negative about drafting him. One of the comments I remember most was .........well, you think your smarter than Bobby Turner ?
I have never understood why it is "greed" to want to keep the money you earned, but not "greed" to take someone else's money---Thomas Sowell
I know a few players who have played for Omaha. They said Maurice has been their biggest help. They have nothing but great things to say about him and how he has taken them under his wing.
