Leagues with no payout other than head to head playoffs

I'm in 3 leagues. 2 pay out in multiple ways (playoffs, total points, high week, loser tournament etc.). 1 league only pays out to the top 3 finishers in the playoffs. 2 years ago I had an absolute dominant team, lead in overall points by 250 at the end of 13 weeks, only to lose in week 14 and get like 10 bucks for 3rd place. Well this year, same league, and my team is 125+ ahead on total points, and I've had the division locked up for 3 weeks. Now, I sit in dread I am going to lose this week again. Got Peyton going tonight in what should have been a huge night vs a crappy D, and so far 1 TD, 1 INT. Did not bench Wayne or Roddy White for Moreno either and he is lighting it up. Went with the "play the guys that brought you" theory. Probably get burned.

No real point to this thread other than to vent and see if anyone else is dreading this situation this year. My team in this league:

    Manning
    Foster
    Lynch
    Moreno
    Dez Bryant
    Roddy White
    Reggie Wayne
    Jimmy Graham

Sucks man...and it's why I won't play in leagues that only pay out for the play-offs.

Everybody deserves to win something...not. Win or go home is my theory.I actually hate the fact that I put in 50 bucks, win the whole thing and only walk away with 150 like I did in a league that had pay outs for everything under the sun...14 team league, and I only made 150.

Maybe if you invest a ton like my buddy does, his league costs $250 and they pay out every week for top 3 scores, then most division wins at the end of the season, best net points and a host of other things...but thats a 250 dollar league. For the smaller $$ leagues I play in, multiple payouts are like sticking leeches to myself.

I think my main league does a pretty good job at it splitting the pot. Buy in is $100, plus each FA move costs $1. If 2 people bid on the same player, it goes to an auction where the winner gets the player for that amount and the loser pays $1. 12 teams, so we're at $1200 after the buy in, about $1100 after the program and trophy update. FA and auctions usually add around $500 or so and we pay out about $500 for an NFL pick em pool, fantasy pick 'em pool, survivor pool, highest offensive player for week and year, defensive player for week and year, team total points for week and year and division winners. We usually have about 1k left over to split between 1st and 2nd. (70/30). I won 2 years ago and came away with about $900 (won my division and total points for the year). This year, unless something happens this week, I've got total points for year, week, offensive player of the week and division title for a total of $175. Our winner should get about $700 and 2nd about $300, so I think it comes out decent.
As cliche as it may sound, I'd like to raise another round, and if your bottle's empty help yourself to mine, thank you for your time and here's to life.

Who keeps track of all of this and how do you guys make the payments for FA pick ups?

Ended up winnning even though he had the Seattle D. Lynch came through for me big time, and all my other guys except Jimmy Graham were solid. Guess it plays to whine, the squeky wheel gets the grease. :)

I am a 25 point favorite this week in the finals. I wonder if that is a curse. I also play the guy who has AP. I hate that from a fan perspective. #1 seed vs. #2 seed, first time that has happened in this league since I started.

Keeping track isn't all that difficult. The web site (MFL) keeps track of all the FA moves for the season and whenever I process the waivers, I put the Auctions in a thread on the message board.

Most people pay a little extra when they pay their league fee to have credits during the season for FA moves. The rest are collected around this time of the year. Most of us are local and see each other frequently, so it's not a huge deal.
