I'm a huge Paul Desmond fan, and he always sounded best against those choppy chords of Brubeck.

I guess Brubeck will be taking more than five. That is still my favorite jazz album.
Why must I feel like that? Why must I chase the cat? Nothin' but the dog in me.

I am not a Brubeck groupie guy...but LOVED it when I heard or played one of his songs. "underrated" kinda guy. I'm rarely sad on one's death.

I was listening to the radio today and the take five song was playing and I was like " I love this song wish I knew what it was..."

The radio host went on to explain the story and I'm really excited to finally know what the song is and am very interested in learning more of his music. Sucks the I only will know of his music after his passing.

He played in Toronto a year ago. Needed to be helped on and off the stage with the 5th or 6th iteration of his band but he could still play. Just sat there with those big bony hands but he still had the touch and the stories.
They played for 90 minutes and he wanted to do more but they literally came on stage to announce the end of the show.

Take Five is one of those pieces of music that make me feel good whenever I hear it.

Take Five was actually written by his outstanding saxophonist Paul Desmond. His drummer Joe Morello was also outstanding, as much of Brubeck's stuff was in odd time signatures.

Time Out is the iconic album.
