A couple of things that I want to point out

These are just a few observation/generalizations/predictions that I want to share from/for this year and years passed.

    1. The defending Superbowl champs have now lost to everyone in their division once with one of those games coming at home.
1a. SF just lost to the Rams, after tying them the first meeting.
1b. GB has also lost to both the 49'ers and the Seahags = no real worries for common opponents tie break
    2. I don't know too many people that predicted us to go undefeated, yet I see disbelief and amazement when we do lose, right before the sky starts falling. Seattle has had our number the last 3 meetings now.
    3. We are in the middle of the longest winning streak against Minnesota, our next game, who just lost an emotional game to the fudgies.
    4. We tend to win after a tough loss under Lovie (unless you factor in last year with Cutler and Forte out).
    5. Our defense, while very good, occasionally has an annoying knack for overlooking the ability of the QB to make plays, unless we are specifically playing a Mike Vick/Cam Newton. It happened with Tebow last year and it just happened with Wilson.
    6. At 8-4, it is likely for us to finish 11-5 and maybe 12-4 if we beat Green Bay at home. Especially considering that we play the Vike, Lions and Cards, none of whom have much to play for the last few weeks.
    7. If we do run the table and beat GB we will hold the division and conference tie breaks against them for division win and playoff seeding. Not bad for this team sucking like some have been insinuation.

Good post Janos. I don't really think the sky is falling, but we are losing our health a bit too much for me to stay positive of a deep playoff run.

Though we get Alshon Jeffery back, we lose Bennett to the concussion protocols. Once the Bears get out rookie WR back and in game shape I will be pleased. The split wide Marshall and Jeffery with Bennett in the slot is and has been our most impressive look. Forte and Erod in the backfield..yep..just need to get and remain healthy.

I am worried this week if Urlacher and Jennings are out.

Urlacher has been less effective against the run this year and The Vikes have who exactly to fear WR? we match up very well against the Vikes even without Urlacher and Jennings...in fact, this is a good week for them both to sit out if any is.

We should beat the Vikes, but it's not a slam dunk by any means. They still have AP that can rip one off at any point and it's very possible Harvin will play. Not to mention we still have a garbage O-line.
Same thing could be said for Detroit and Calvin's ability to take over a game. I don't expect Tillman to keep him that quiet again.

Honestly this is where good coaching comes into play. Look at what the Steelers have done with all of their injuries...we've all seen the results when a Lovie team gets hit by a few.

Getting Jeffery back healthy will pay big dividends. Right before his injury in the Jags game, I really felt like Cutler was trusting him more and more. Heck, he got hurt on a TD catch. Cutler and Jeffery haven't been able to play in a game since that Jacksonville game....so if and when Jeffery comes back, it'll be interesting to see if they can pick up right where they left off.

replying to the black: Harvin may or may not play, but even if he does, what they have behind Harvin isn't much to be excited about. We should be able to at least neutralize their passing game, if not dominate it if we get any semblance of pressure from the front 7.

replying to the yellow, their O line has been as bad as ours the last few years and Big Ben has been getting mauled. Their game plan for 2 games after Ben Injury were not the greatest, and they were on their way to losing this past week until they got a few things to go their way with Batch and their defense. Also, while they're winning games, they have looked pretty lethargic as a team this whole season. All in all, I'm not ready to anoint them with an "excellent coaching" award just yet.

Great post. Thanks for being a voice of reason.

We don’t like to lose to teams we think we should beat. Even Lovie seemed to be mad after this loss, and he said that he didn’t prepare the team well enough. Many players had thousand-yard stares. I doubt that Lovie would underestimate a team during the playoffs.

We also don’t like to lose ugly to any teams, even a top team like the 49ers without Cutler. So, we made major changes on offense.

As long as we’re still generally moving forward, we’re okay. I'm still more worried about the offense than anything. It has been improving, but it still has a ways to go.

If we win out, tiebreakers against the Packers don't matter.

True. But how much are you willing to wager on that proposition?

The first part was also true about Seattle's offense. I'm just saying it wouldn't shock me if the D didn't dominate the Vikes, especially if Harvin plays. They do have a TE that could do some damage vs. us as well.

We've looked pretty lethargic at times and needed a few things to go our way (see Carolina game) ...and that was when we had a fairly clean bill of health. I'm just saying I see other teams that do more with less and stay competitive due to gameplanning and adjustments....something I think our staff fails miserably at regardless of injuries.

It would help if we covered him, too.

Whelp, Percy Harvin was just put on IR, so that's a feather in our hopeful caps. Actually levels the playing field for us with Urlacher on the shelf.
