    Del Rio Effect

Doesn't it seem like all our young and even experienced players have raised their level of play significantly?

We've all thought highly of a guy like say Woodyard, but he's become an animal out there (almost borderline out of control). Miller has taken the step we've needed him to take. Young guys like Moore and even Ayers are playing well and steady, something that just wasn't true last year and in Ayers case ever.

We've had young guys step up in the secondary before, but they always seemed to get picked apart, now guys like Chris Harris just aren't giving up any ground to anybody. I would even say the secondary has been the strength of the team (but maybe it's just Miller scaring teams away from 7 step drops).

I don't know, but I think Del Rio across the board has had an incredibly positive influence on not just the play of the players, but their growth as well. Hate to imagine if he gets a head coaching job next year (which seems pretty likely) and where we go from there, but a fairly underrated move by Elway/Fox that has paid of tremendously this year.

totally agree. I do question whether he'll get a job next season though; I heard he burned a few bridges the way things ended with Jax, and that might take some time to blow over... But hey, winning is what matters, and this defense is turning it out.

Elway was also right in that Manning raises all boats; JDR and everyone else are perfect pieces to the puzzle that is the Broncos this season.

JDR was the 2nd best move for Denver in 12. I'm expecting him to be gone but, I really hope he stays.

I guess another way to put the above that separates Del Rio from past seasons, is that we seem to actually be developing our defensive talent rather than relying merely on scheme and their natural talent. Just love seeing these guys 'improve' on the field week in and week out... even early miscues in calling the secondary signals (for instance) seem a distant memory. It's not perfect, but everyone seems ready to step up and contribute. Just loving the development of all our young guys and Manning/Del Rio certainly are reasons, just hope and pray we keep Del Rio.

Premature to worry about it... but how long has it been since

    Pts allowed - 8th
    yds/gm - 4th
    pass yards/gm - 5th
    rush yards/gm - 9th
    rush yards/att - 2nd!!!
    sacks - 1st
    Ints - 2nd (AFC)

I mean those last 3 things have been chronic sore spots for our defenses even in years where we were 'statistically' good. Hoping for many more years of this type of defensive performance because it is so much fun now even when the opposition has the ball (rather than what had pretty much become dread).

I would be more surprised if he gets a HC job this coming season than if he doesn't. Recent history (Shanahan, Gruden,Fisher ) suggest a waiting period.

Great to see some true blue JDL opinions in the forum. I think Del Rio is great, but I would argue the noticeable player development started last year under Fox.

One extremely important improvment that has progressed over the season is our defense's ability to get off the field and limit the 3rd down conversions - early on, we were allowing 3rd down conversions at such critical rate, it was, in actuality, costing us games ...

The adjustments and moves Del Rio has made have been nothing short of outstanding

One other thing I'd like to mention is the improvment of Rahim Moore - I was so down on him last year, I never thought I would say this but, with the strides he's made, I think he could be a starter on a SB caliber defense ...

Which is interesting because last season we had Dennis Allen - a previous secondary coach - and Moore was terrible ...

I really give props to Moore and Del Rio ... I think it is obvious that Allen is in over his head in Oak, and probably was here last year too - these guys get in too deep too soon ...

Del Rio his Effect well each week as a D we got better . I have no real reason why but he is maybe the best D cordintor ever ..

Lucas I think you might be giving Del Rio to much credit. Fox loves ,eats sleeps and deams Safteys. he is probably the reason we drafted both our Safteys.. Carter was really good last year I sure hope his knee takes tothe Surgree

Sounds like a South American B actor movie.
