    Tennessee fires OC Palmer

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...r-chris-palmer

"I have a great deal of respect for Chris Palmer as a coach and that was the reason we brought him here. I appreciate the time and effort he put in here and I want to wish him and his family the best moving forward," head coach Mike Munchak said in a statement.

"As an offense I didn’t feel like we were progressing the way that I had hoped. I believe we needed a change in direction and I hope to see that progress in our remaining games. Dowell has worked here for a number of years under some very successful coordinators and he is ready for this challenge."

It's hard not to see Titans owner Bud Adams' imprint here. Adams sounded off about possible changes after the Titans' last embarrassing loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 9, and now they make a move a day after a 24-19 loss to the one-win Jacksonville Jaguars. It's also hard not to wonder if Munchak could be next.

Palmer was Munchak's choice for offensive coordinator despite a poor track record with the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans at the NFL level. The offense has been mediocre since Munchak arrived; the defense this season is considerably worse for the 4-7 Titans.
"Offense, defense and special teams doing their job, each group have different objective and motives, but playing in harmony for each other, for the good of everyone. Wouldn't it be nice if Congress operated the same way?''

-- Giants coach Tom Coughlin, during his team's visit to the White House Friday as the president honored the Giants for winning the Super Bowl

The defense sucks, so you fire the offensive coordinator?

    The whole team sucks.

    The QB sucks.

The RB (relative to his talent and pedigree) sucks.

The WRs are solid. Not great, but definitely winnable.

    The tackles are fantastic.

    The guards suck.

    The center really sucks.

Pick a position on defense that doesn't rhym with dornerback and they really really suck there.

The franchise is a disaster. It amazes me how they stumble to win 6 or 7 games with some of their recent teams.

Munch last year did one of the best HC jobs you can do. He took FIsher's roster and did much better than Fisher did with it, despite a downgrade at supposedly the most important position.

I'm backing Munch here, but the GM's head should be served on a platter for this roster.

Oh, and the owner sucks. ;)

At least you guys got rid of Jeff Fisher. I used to think that guy was a good coach, but holy crap, just watching the way he completely mismanages the end of games is bizarre.

The guy took a team with 15 wins over the last 5 seasons, turned over 60% of the roster and has the youngest team in the league at 4-6-1. I know Q hates him, but I'll take that.

Well, Fisher is clearly good at fixing a team's defense, but in the two Rams games I've seen this season, I thought his late game management was flat out incompetent.

That's what the Eagles did. And if they were trying to be the worst team in the league then it worked!

You could completely blend the Eagles and Titans rosters together and they might, maybe manage to go 8-8

Just curious, did you follow the team before they moved to TN?

I did. But to be honest, I was 10 years old. So I wasn't exactly what you'd call a die-hard at that time.

Honestly that post is mostly because I just find the entire damn franchise unlikeable at this time. So I really do sympathize with Xulu.

The players are unlikeable. The front office is a clown car brigade of idiots (but that's basically been the case the entire time I've been a fan), and the owner is considered one of the bigger jokes outside of Al Davis territory.

Honestly, my favorite part about this Titan team is the HC. I think Munch will be a great HC for someone else. Poor dude doesn't have a chance with this disaster of a franchise.

I think Munch is their biggest problem. He's an OL guy who hasn't been able to even slightly fix the terrible interior OL and he spent his first year and a half not running the plays that made CJ2K so effective. Going from Kerry Collins(seeing him in Indy should tell what they were working with there) to Hasselbeck(not amazing but a stable, middle of the pack veteran starter) is the only reason they won a few games. That and Mccarthy and Ayers stepping up at LB, and arguably Babin leaving.

and I'll say again that Locker has not sucked.

Locker has sucked. This team is Devoid of talent and has lost it's best defensive player like 3 years in a row and not replaced one of them, and the interior OL is the same it was when fished was here. This goes back to the clown car brigade I mentioned before. Thy all grade out as terrible and yet they're all back. At least munch didn't pick Collins as the starter when it was clear how awful he always was. And munch hasn't tanked a season due to his ego. He's a better HC than Jeff fisher, without question.

    Not a chance.
    .
and like I said above, Locker hasn't been great, but his numbers, QBR and otherwise, are pretty respectable. That's with the terrible interior line.

and as much as I supported VY, he clearly fell apart mentally and couldn't be trusted.
