Rachal walking out may not have meant much to Tice and the Bears, but it may have drawn national attention to the Bears and the more obvious OL woes than Rachal. I hope that Tice can be reeled in enough to stop mistreating players like Spencer, Rachal and C. Williams and to stop over coddling players like Webb and Carimi so much. It’s no way to run a group. After the powers that be came down from on high to reel in Martz last year to help the OL, the rift was large enough that he didn’t return this year. Tice is doing the same thing and worse. At least Martz ran a real offense with real play calling. MOO!

I quite disagree with the bolded part. Spencer--last year's starter--got the first shot at the LG job and he sucked in TC. So Tice moved the next guy up into that spot. Where's the mistreatment there? I'll grant that he didn't give CWill much of a shot at the LT job. But as JWebb struggled, he opened up the competition again, giving CWill more TC reps and PT. And the result was that CWill was bad, so he left JWebb in there. I was one of the loudest clamorers for CWill to get another shot. But when you can give 2 guys a chance to play. you go with the guy who played better. And with Carimi, he just got benched.

The reality is that when your OL as a unit sucks, there's some things you can do about that. But it's still a bad situation. You can use short drops, chip, max protect and run screens, but those strategies all come with inherent compromises. Any coach will tell you that when you have bad players on your team, particularly all in one area, it makes it really tough. If you don't have any good defenders, it's tough for your soccer team to keep people from scoring. If you don't have good midfielders, the ball's going to be in your end the whole game. That's just how it is. I think Tice certainly has his flaws. But Bill Walsh wouldn't be successful with our cast of characters up front.
Are you a libertarian? Most people are and don't know it.

Im going to have to agree with Aussie on this one.
Richal leaving shows that there's something really going wrong at Halas Hall.

Tice's favoring J Webb is probably what set Richal off.
The Bears already released Chris Williams cause he didnt fit Tice's ideal "type" of OL.
And we supposed to believe that J Webb is?

Sure Carimi has struggled with penalties and poor play.
But the guy is basically a rookie coming off a knee injury.
I have alot more faith in him than I do the other tackle who we all know is never going to be a good Offensive Lineman in this league.

I don't like Tice at all but beware of blaming Rachal's issues on Tice: http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2012...ves_bears.html

According to a league source, the 49ers knew how to "get in his head," prompting Rachal's poor performance. The source added that Rachal, in general, is emotional and needs constant positive reinforcement.
Crazy considering how much ego and swagger you assume most pro athletes have.

Rachal spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers

According to a league source, the 49ers knew how to "get in his head," prompting Rachal's poor performance.
They knew him and they dumped him, so it's not shocking they knew what weaknesses to work on.
The word "hero" is frequently abused badly. This is a real hero.
