And just so people know....it isn't Goodell that rules on these suspensions. Its an ex-safety Merton Hanks who is vice pres on football operations and the exec VP of football operations operations Ray Anderson that makes the call on all fines and suspensions resulting from rule violation during games.

Which makes it even more of a head scratcher since most of the ex NFL players believe it was the wrong call to make by Hanks... I'd like to hear from Hanks on why he laid down the hammer like he did since he played the position himself...

He was an RPIA as a Safety for the 9'ers, too (I recall him well, good player, used to do some weird head bobble dance when he made a big play, which was often).

    Suspension reversed. Still fined $50K.
The consistent factor of all of your dissatisfying relationships and failures is you.

Actually Ted Cottrell is the one who hears the appeals and was the one who ruled to reverse the orginal suspension.

Not surprisingly for on-field violations they have a pretty extensive system in place for who passes down the first judgement and who hears the appeals.....and Goodell is not involved. I expect the players to fight and possibly even give up some $$$ in the next CBA to put in place a similar system for off-the-field violations (that is where Goodell's virtually unchecked power lies).

It was ridiculous they tried to suspend him out of the blue. If they want to start suspending guys for repeated hits, it needs to be a very orderly process. Set it up through the Competition Committee and say that if you are fined X times or $X dollars, you will be suspended. Make it a big number, like $200k or $250k, so that you would need to be doing this 4-5 times.

You can't just arbitrarily go around suspending guys for this.
