    The Charmin Defense

This is easily, without question, the softest defense the Philadelphia Eagles have put on the field in decades.

When is the last time the Eagles had a defense this bad? I think you have to go back to the 1970s, right?

The secondary is the problem imo. I hope all four are gone in 2013.

It's more that some players have quit and we have the stupid wide 9 than it being soft.

I agree the 2005 defense was not good, but this is way worse. I cannot recall an Eagles defense playing this poorly. Even in the Kotite years and the last season under Rhodes, the defense typically came to play. This is just embarassing.

2012 and 2005 are the worst Eagle D's i have seen by far. Of course i came aboard in '88, so i hardly have experienced horrific Eagle D. It is one of the things i disliked about Andy.

I'll tell you another problem, it's this stupid rotational nonsense! Jon Gruden just said it on the monday night game between the 49ers and Bears, their players don't come off the field. They start the game and finish the game, rarely are the starters ever replaced for a breather! The best defense in Eagles history Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Mike Golic and Clyde Simmons, those guys didnt come off the field!

Golic was actually the rotational Dt. Mike Pitts started. But that was it in terms of rotations. That is what you can do with big DEs like White and Simmons.

If you don't rotate, then you can't throw fastballs at the defense*!

*I didn't like that dumb philosophy when JJ was here, but we were winning and I was told I shouldn't have questioned it.

The wish was a reference to Castillo. Everyone thought anyone would be better. Clearly not.

I miss Jim Johnson. His defenses were occasionally accused as soft and they struggled sometimes against the run, but I loved his zone blitz and his aggressiveness. He usually dialed up the right call on third downs.

A midseason coaching change at HC or coordinator is a recipe for disaster. Any degree of uncertainty in the scheme is a killer. Season was done when Reid panicked and fired Juan Castillo, even though Eagles were 3-3 at the bye and Michael Vick's turnovers were the reason for at least two of the losses.

Yup. The D got a lot worse and the O didn't get any better.
