As bad as Batch is, it is tough to go with a guy that's been on the roster for less than a week. They've kept Batch around, so they like something in him.

As for the pats, hopefully, Jones can play and I guess I'm in the minority but I'd like to see Mankins back soon.

    from Serby at nypost.com:

"The Jets may be out of the guarantee business, but that didn’t stop them from delivering a Beware of Underdog message to the Patriots yesterday.

“I feel like we were real loose this week at practice, which is good to see,” Mike DeVito said. “I think a tendency that we’ve had in the past when it’s Patriots Week is to tighten up, you naturally get a little bit tight because you recognize the importance of the game, and how physical and ratcheted up it always is. ... You play this game too tight, you’re not gonna be successful. You play this game loose and with swag and having fun, that’s when you’re gonna do well, and I think guys are happy about that.

“I just know we play well when we feel like this.”

DeVito was asked if he senses that this team is ready to play its best game.

“Without a doubt, yeah without a doubt.” DeVito said. “Guys are really confident. We’re gelling as a team, we believe in each other, and I have no doubt that we’re gonna be ready to go on Thursday night.”

They respect Tom Brady. He throws one touchdown pass at a time, just like every other quarterback. They respect Bill Belichick. He puts his head in one hoodie at a time, just like every other head coach would.

“We definitely need to win out,” LaRon Landry said."

"Landry visited the Patriots during free agency before deciding on the Jets. Ryan was at the Jets complex when Landry arrived. Belichick was nowhere to be found during Landry’s Foxborough visit.

“It sends a message, to me,” Landry said. “If you’re trying to get a guy to come to your organization, you want to meet everybody ... owner ... the whole nine, man — especially the head coach. There wasn’t as much emphasis that I need to be there. ... I made the right decision.”

The Jets’ three-headed monster at running back gives them optimism that they will have a chance to keep Brady off the field. "

Every week, the Jets have had "their best week of practice" - it's like a broken record from Rex and his minions. The fact is, these teams know each other so well that with a short week of practice, it is simply going to come down to execution and winning 1-on-1 battles. Can the Patriots make plays 10+ yards downfield to prevent NYJ from jamming the box? Can Sanchez accurately find his targets? Can either team run the ball on the other? Will one team make a big play in special teams?

I see this as a close on, something like 27-24 Patriots. I just think the Jets will make a few mistakes and the Pats will capitalize. That said, they ran it well on us last time around and if they get a lead, they could start playing keep-away and limiting Sanchez's chances to blow the game.

The offensive line has got to deliver a good game and keep Brady protected. I think the Pats have enough firepower.

    FYI-

    EXTRA POINTS:

    1. Washington S Brandon Meriweather made his season debut versus Philadelphia after being sidelined with a left knee injury. Meriweather, who intercepted rookie Nick Foles, tore his ACL and is lost for the season.
