The rumor was Dallas was going to trade up to get him. Dallas's board came out that year and they had him as a 3rd rounder.
He could have been had later.
Fans saying someone could've been had later is speculation. Dallas was just one team and I'm still not sure that Dallas draft board was legit.
What matters is the 49ers drafted him and he's proving that it was a smart decision. Tons of people were claiming Aldon Smith could've been had later too in 2011 and this past draft people were shocked the niners took AJ Jenkins and how he was a huge reach, yet it came out that St Louis was going to draft him just 3 picks later.
