From what I read if we do add one it will likely only be to the PS, question is does Dixon still have eligibility. I'm thinking yes since he was just released last week from Ravens PS. However I was really unhappy when they didn't resign Johnson to the PS after the preseason. I thought he looked pretty good running the offense and he has a ton of potential. That said I'd take Johnson over Dixon due to Johnson's size and the fact he worked in the offense this year where Dixon has not.

This question takes on a whole new importance after hearing the latest report on BB's injuries. Erring on the side of safety (always a good idea with a potentially life threatening injury) it sounds like the med staff won't let him play until the rib is fully healed which could be 4-6 weeks which would put us at the end of the regular season. Given that neither of our backup QBs have a reputation for durability, it seems it would be prudent to add another QB to the roster so:

Dixon: Pros - has actually played in a regular season game and done pretty well really and also as an ex-ratbird might be able to give us some inside info on our hated rivals. Cons - hasn't played in Haley's offense and doesn't seem very durable either given his slender physique.

Johnson: Pros - big strong guy with some experience in the new offense. Cons - VERY raw rookie not used to the speed of the NFL regular season.

I guess if it were me and I had to choose a guy who might need to start real soon, I'd go with Dixon just cause of his experience. If I wanted to develop a young QB I'd go with Johnson but to play this year - DD.

If it's only a question of those two? Gotta be the guy who has experience in the system, even if it was as limited as Johnson's was.

Double D had his moment here. No point in going back down that road, IMO.

    Ooof. I'd hope not.

Anyone else out there is going to be of the same ilk. Kitna, Brunell, Losman, et al. Or maybe some younger scrubs like Max Hall/the McCown Twins(did not check on either. For all I know both are rostered).

At this point, just bring back Johnson.

Moot point on Dixon, he was resigned as soon as Ben went questionable to their practice squad so we'd have to sign him to the roster which I don't see happening.

Only move so far was to IR Carter (abdomen) so he's done for the year and add LB McFadden from the PS. They sign Ta'amu to PS (he belongs there till he gets his legal situation worked out, grows up and shows he's committed to putting in the time and effort) and added TE McCoy back on PS (must have some interest in him they keep bringing him back).

I'd still would have like to see Johnson added back to the PS. I just don't understand why they haven't. He seemed to do well in preseason, is there something they didn't like about him. If it gets down to Lefty and Batch being hurt the season is over anyhow might as well see what he's got in the regular season.
