    Why I hate the Bye

Because just when we're getting on a roll, our momentum gets broken up.

Because it's a mid season reminder of how depressed I'll get once the season's over and the Bears aren't on anymore.

Because I'll probably end up watching the Lions or Packers and secretly rooting for injuries, which will make me hate myself.

Because I drafted too many Bears on my fantasy team!

I will miss their Defensive/Special Teams unit this week. They're the 3rd highest scoring player in my fantasy league behind only Brees and Ryan.
I've actually grown somewhat accustomed to the bye the past few seasons. This is typically where we'd take Martz aside and tell him to knock it the hell off and start running a bit more conservative offense. I don't know what to expect coming out of the bye this year.

    Go Bears!

Because I'll probably gravitate to the Lions/Eagles game, two teams I don't really care for and I will be rooting for one team I do not like to beat another team I do not like.

Because given how healthy we are, there is a better chance we return from the bye less healthy than more healthy this year.

In many respects I dislike the Eagles more than the Lions, from both a present and historical standpoint. Yet my divisional instincts always take over in games like this one, so I will be pulling for the Eagles to win, but of course in a horribly sloppy manner.

If Lions lose this weekend, they may be done, at least emotionally. Big game vs. Eagles.

We are of the same mind. Hated John Runyan for years, yet he epitomized the attitude of that douchey town.

Careful. You don't want to paint with that broad of a brush. Philly can't be entirely "douchey".

I agree with the Eagles-Lions complaints. Personally, I hope that no matter if the Lions win or (hopefully) lose, the Eagles beat the heck out of them, so they'll be wore down the next week!

We could start a whole new thread on that subject....

I'll be honest, I've never really had any hatred for the Eagles except for a few years a ways back when I actively wished for Hugh Douglas to get run over by a forklift. I always liked Andy Reid, Brian Westbrook, and Donovan McNabb. But Flyers hatred pretty much trumps any positive feeling I'd have about that city. Pack of ****s.

History would indicate the BYE was the starting point for a series of wins. IIRC, in 2010 we won 5 in a row after the BYE and we rattled off 3 wins before the injuries mounted and the hubcaps fell off. We were on a serious roll until the bottom fell out.

But usually we limp into the bye. This year, we're in first place (with the highest point differential in the league, I might add).

Yeah hopefully we can duplicate the success we had in 2006. We headed into the bye week with a 6-0 record (after pulling off one of the best comebacks in Bears history) and then came back after the bye and took care of business against the Niners, 41-10.

I know recently the past couple of seasons the Bears have headed into the bye week with a lot of pessimism and negativity surrounding the team. And then they rip off 4 or 5 wins in a row. Let's see how they come out after the bye this year hopefully Lovie has them ready to play.
