94' Eagles game, that's all. The troubling thing is we have 4 days to work it out. If we lose to Sea. at home then I'll start to get butthurt. This morning started off so good, then 3:25 came.
What a stinker of a game. Who let Ray back into the coaches box.
It seems our coaches like to be too cute by half all to often.
Bend don't break didn't cut it. Although Eli made some great throws and his receivers had even better catches.
Bad game by Alex. Worse he's had for a while. The Niners are hardly a rythem passing team. So when they start to get on a roll they pull the starting QB, Just in time to kill what ever momentum we had going in the drives.
O-line pass bloking left alot to desire. Took too many of bad penalties
After seeing the Niners beat the game out of both the Bills and the Jets, It was easy to recognize a D quitting when it happened to the Niners D.
I too would like to know what happen to our ST coverage unit.
No adjustment in gettng after Eli. Just rush 3 or 4 and hope he makes a bad throw or he has a dropped pass.
2 win, 1 loss. 2wins, 1 loss. Makes me wonder if too many on the team(including coaches) are getting too caught up with the hype that comes with winning.

Roman gets caught up in the fact he's supposed to have a plan of attack EVERY week.
When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
Last season it seemed every announcer would echo the same sentiment. Nobody but, nobody shows more fronts in thier running game than do the Niners. When there not running to the stacked side or trying to catch the D with a backside run or reverse, the Niners try and pass out of run friendly formations/personnel grouping. I can't imagine it's easier to pass out of such formations thus, it limits what they can do in the passing game.
I think there always looking to add new wrinkles since thier limited as mentioned and that not always enough.
I think we have the coaches to realize that after a loss like this we need to change things up.
-Maybe we shouldnt bring in Kaepernick to run razzle dazzle in the middle of 3 promising drives in a close game. Three out of four drives he was brought in and the Giants were prepared. Roman needs to figure out that passing out of a three tightend set when we are down by 17 just does not work. Gore touched the ball 8 times. Just like vs. Minny, he wasn't utilized. No screens, hot routes, reverses. Nothing to tame that pass rush. The playcalling was terrible and was identical to the Minny game.
-Maybe Fangio needs to ditch the one on one beat your man pass rush BS because it isn't working. It hasn't worked all year. We had NO pass rush yesterday. None. Put that against arguably the best QB in the game right now and that spells disaster. What happened to the stunts we used to run where Smith would take two blockers leaving Aldon to run free? I haven't seen that all year. Ray MacDonald? Where are you? Willis and Bowman are used in coverage more than they blitz.
It's time to switch it up and start bringing pressure.
-Could the losses of Colin Jones and Blake Costanzo be hurting the special teams that much? This is not the dominant unit they were last year.
-Davids Akers....WTF man?
-I am terrified at the thought of Leonard Davis at RG vs. Seattle. I hope Staley is ready to go or we are in trouble.
I still enjoy watching this team. They are talented but I cant figure out if the need for a true #1 WR is the need or a true elite QB is the need. Im leaning towards the QB. We now see what this team is made out of once that D is not so dominant and Akers and the special teams dont dominant as well. 9ERS4EVA said it best, good QB's throw their receivers open while Smith waits for them to get open.
I think with a QB like either of the Manning's this team would be un-stoppable with the offensive weopons we have. With Smith, we will be a mediocre offensive team that rely's on the run game and check downs to win. That is Ok as long as we win the turnover, time of possesion and field position battle like we did last year. This year that isn't the case.

Some of the after-game interviews with Baas and others pointed out that the Giants analyzed the beating we gave Eli in the playoffs last year, and were prepared for the loops & stunts that Fangio works with the Smiths. Seattle is going to watch that tape pretty closely.
It was frustrating and ominous to watch those first two drives eat up most of the 1st Qtr and result in only 3 points.
We got out-coached on this one. Doesn't happen often.
Step back from the ledge guys. It was a bad game all around that got out of hand when Smith started throwing picks. It happens, it's done, Seattle in 4 days.
That's all the Coaching staff can do right now. The game was a dud, they got rolled for numerous reasons and you have to forget it and move on.
The season isn't over, the team is not the 3rd best in the division, nobody needs to be benched or traded. They just need to focus on Seattle and win a game on Thursday.
Hitman please take your meds on Thursday before the game.

You must live in a highrise. I can't find a single ledge of which you speak and I own and live in a tri-level
The Niners are still tied for 1st and don't have a loss within the division. Thurday night game ought to be a real bruiser
Hitman is a passionate fan no doubt but I've really never seen someone who changes their mind so much depending on what happens. I find it hilarious to read these threads after the game(usually a lot funnier after a win) but one post Alex is great, next post Alex is trash and repeat.
If anything certain things lately should show we need to let things play out. Everyone was calling for Anthony Davis to go inside well he's been playing very well. Alex has never been a model of consistency but last year he was consistent in what he was doing.
Yesterday the niner playcalling got away from helping him out but he also didn't do himself any favors. It happens. Need to move on from it and not let it happen again.
If we walk away from this game realizing we need to do something to generate more pass rush and on offense realize we cannot get too cute and abandon the run...
We absolutely KILLED ourselves forgetting the run. It's not like the Giants stopped us there, as a team we had less than 20 rushing attempts that's crazy. And only 12 to the running backs!
It's one thing if the other team shuts down your running game but to go away from it completely is just shocking.
Luckily it's a safe bet that we won't do the same against a dominant Seattle secondary...of course Seattle may actually stop our running game but that's another story.
I agree with everything you said and it's crazy to read the mood swings that transpire on the game thread. It's one thing to be pissed that your team lost but some take it to a whole other level.
The Sun came up this morning contrary to popular belief and the Niners are still tied for 1st place in the division with a chance to take sole possession if they can beat the Seahawks on Thursday. I don't know if it's the decade of losing or the comic relief this franchise was under Terry Donahue, Nolan and Sing dulling my anger over losses, but I don't see a loss in game 6 as a devastating blow to the overall season anymore. As much as we would love to win every game, it doesn't happen and it's probably better that it doesn't so that you've experienced the pain and anger of losing when it comes to must win games in Jan.
If the Niners go into a tailspin, then we can all come on here and forecast when Smith is gone, or how the other players we thought were great are all of a sudden washed up; but till then, it's a long season and a win on Thursday puts them right back on top. So let it play out and see what happens.
3 straight games within the Division ought to tell us where we stand as a team. As far as I know, were the only team in the division that doesn't already have a divisional loss or two.
