"You can't lose your job due to injury"

Am I the only one that never got this? Isn't the idea to give your team the best chance to win? Isn't that the job of the coach and if a replacement is much better than the starter, if coach doesn't keep the replacement, is he not failing to do his job? I feel like in a multi-billion dollar business, where the employees are getting paid millions of dollars and are an integral part of the business, loyalty should be secondary. Agree or disagree?

I think that's a cliche that has almost zero truth to it. You have to be an All-Pro type player for that to have any truth to it.

2 years ago our center Shaun O'Hara was hurt and we have Rich Seubert replace him and play great. When O'Hara got healthy, Coughlin reinstated him, and the O-line played worse.

Seeing as how Bradshaw just ran for 200 yards, it's hard to question Coughlin's choice on this positional battle at least...

Right, before today I would have said that I wasn't happy with the rb situation. Brown should have gotten some more runs against the Eagles at least. I was talking about our worst O-lineman David Diehl possibly regaining his job when he comes back.

And folks Coughlin does exactly what I was dreading because one of the worst tackles in the league can't lose his job due to injury. Yes it happens. That's despite the fact that the line has performed worlds better without him. This is disgraceful. If Coughlin hasn't brought us 2 SB wins I'd hope he gets canned for this disgraceful decision.

It's a cliche, but as others noted, it happens all the time. Tell it to Drew Bledsoe, that's another legendary example.

Doesn't happen with Coughlin apparently. There is ZERO reason why people shouldn't be able to lose their job due to injury. If there's someone better there to replace the injured starter then the coach is not doing his job by playing the guy that was injured. This sounds like some feel good peewee ****. That's where it should stay. In a business where players are getting paid millions, you play the best. Fans shouldn't pay good money to see an inferior product because the coach doesn't want someone's feelings hurt. Sickening.
