I and many of my friends have much more expensive toys gathering dust much of the year. Much much more. I'm sure you and most other can say the same. If not of self than of family or friends.
Well, its like this. Would you expect a fisherman to rent his rods? Or a gearhead to rent a fast car? Its like that. Of course partaking in my right is a factor as well, but i enjoy owning, upgrading, changing and its a great stress reliever. Plus you can only be 100% comfy and sure of a weapon if its your weapon. I know what condition its in, i know its legal, i know how many rounds has been through it, how the sighting is. If the rifle tends to drop a round lower or doesnt adjust to windage well etc. I mean i used to go clay shooting on base and i was always a good shot no matter what shotgun we used, but i was something magical with mine lol. I had to get rid of it when i moved to california becuase it wasnt california legal. It was a ton of fun and a great way to keep your skills.

I am surprised people think $600 is too expensive or ridiculous, I guess because it's a gun. $600 is really nothing for a "toy", I had a $2k street legal mini motocycle I rode probably less than 20 hours in 3 years, I know people who had $5k quads that rode them less, or boats that get out 6 times a year, or a motorhome that gets used quite seldom. I bought a jointer/planer combo for $500 and been to busy to use it more than 2 hours in the month I have had it.
600 bucks is cheap for an ar15 rifle, it typically sells between 950-1200 stock. Its why i ordered it from my local store. At first i thought it was the 22. Version, but i looked over the one in the display case and it was the exact same as the colt model. Bolt locks to the rear, forward assist, mag release, dust cover, even identicle firing selector switch (absent the 3 rd burst of course) he let me break it diwn (down to the bolt anyway) and it seemed the same. Just wonderwd why it was so cheap. But from the reveiws here and the looks of it, i just got a steal, 597.99 before taxes is what it will be, ill probably wait till next month to pick it up though.
Thanks guys.

Oh, my question was about DPMS more than the rifle itself, ive put easily over 2,000 rounds through the ar15 by colt.
Quality gun, for sure, and well worth $600. I think it compares favorably to the Colt in many ways. It's definitely better quality than, say, a Bushmaster version, which is still worth the money.
Thats not a bad idea, i guess ive never thought about it. I guess it would be fun too, ive helped friends throw in conversion kits before and i can break down a 15 with my eyes closed. Might be a good project for next year.
Maybe peice together a rifle that fires the 40. Ammo or 38. Or an ar with 7.62 capacity.
