Maybe that says more about what Flynn's true perceived value is around the league than any other thing. Either that or the numbers are a stupidly long way apart for what Flynn thinks he's worth and what the Hawks/'Phins are prepared to pay. Maybe it's reality check time for Matt Flynn.
If you're not mad as hell you're not paying attention.
Actually reality about Smith is he has never been provided with much talent at WR, has never had any consistency with his OC, and since being drafted has had numerous OC's and has had to learn a new scheme every season. He's young, he's been pretty durable, has the arm to throw every pass, and is improving as he gains more experience. In fact we could do worse and if we modified his 3 yr, $24 m. to give us an out we'd have got an upgrade over TJax. There'd still be questions about his upside but it could be a win/win.

I'm not jazzed or overjoyed about Alex Smith but he's better than T Jackson, and I'm still trying to figure out why everyone is so sold on Flynn's upside. He's started 2 games after being a 7th round draft pick 4 years ago. Why isn't he just Charlie Whitehurst?
I think in the 2012 season we would be a better team with Alex Smith starting, but I won't discount the possibility that in 2014 we would be better with Flynn. However, it seems like we're just assuming he has all this upside since he's only started 2 games and we don't know yet that he isn't really good.
*Sigh*. None of these scenarios are very intriguing. Even my favorite, Flynn, could easily end up failing considering teams never really game-planned for him for the most part. It's like a choice of chewing on gravel, glass, or bolts. None, appealing...
