    What format do you prefer?

Head-to-head? Pick'em challenge? Total points format?

Not exactly clear on what you're asking. Head to head? I know pick em challenges are cool to play for kicks and giggles, and easy enough to run. I personally like the format where you have to pick your drivers for the season and the drivers are broken up into categories. That's probably because I've managed to win money in those formats. Kinda like the one BMan is in or in the ones where I play.

    Example
    Pick 1
    A1 Carl Edwards
    A2 Dale Jr
    A3 Jeff Gordon
    A4 Jimmie Johnson
    A5 Kyle Busch

    Pick 3
    B1 Greg Biffle
    B2 Clint Bowyer
    B3 Jeff Burton
    B4 Denny Hamlin
    B5 Kevin Harvick
    B6 Matt Kenseth
    B7 Mark Martin
    B8 Tony Stewart

    Pick 2
    C1 Kurt Busch
    C2 Kasey Kahne
    C3 Joey Logano
    C4 Jamie McMurray
    C5 Juan Pablo Montoya
    C6 Ryan Newman
    C7 David Ragan
    C8 Martin Truex

    Pick 1
    D1 AJ Almendinger
    D2 Bobby Labonte
    D3 Casey Mears
    D4 Paul Menard
    D5 David Reutimann
    D6 Elliott Sadler
    D7 Reed Sorenson
    D8 Brian Vickers

You're describing what I'm calling a pick'em challenge, I think. Something like Yahoo's fantasy racing?

H2H - just like in football. Draft a team (serpentine style if you wish) - 6-8 owners, 4-5 drivers per team, 3-4 starting drivers per race, head-to-head versus your leaguemates. Each week you get a win-loss record. The playoffs begin at the start of the Chase in an elimination-style format.

I don't have much of a floormat preference. I guess black would match my interier.
    I promise I won't do it again

Don't know what format we've used for years but we break the season down into 2 halves.
Each team gets to pick a different car every week, once a car is used it cannot be used again. We score -10 points for a win and score the number equivalent to their placement for all others (9 points for 9th place, etc.)
The lowest score wins at the end of each half. We have so many players we pay out the top 7 with a large chunk to the winner.
I didn't win this year but last year we brought home the bacon. :D
