Here are the 2008 cap commitments for all 32 teams, with the number of players currently under contract listed in parentheses.

Unbelievable, the Panthers have the second fewest players under contract in the league, yet still have the third highest payroll. We're so screwed..
Of course, the Pats are practically in the same situation as us interestingly enough.

Say what you will about Mike Nolan on gameday, but the 49ers are in GREAT cap shape. Holy crap.
They need to roll out some red carpet this offseason for skill positions and pass rushers.

Thank You Adam
Based soley off of Adam's superlative homework I see some teams primed for mega deal on March 1st.
The Titans will have room left for a top flight wideout after getting Albert Haynesworth's signature on a six year sixty mil type contract.
San Francisco (WR for mad Martz), Jacksonville (WR for Garrard) and Buffalo (WR opposite Lee Evans) will be looking for offensive help.
I see Cincinnati, New York (N) and New Orleans needing help primarily at LB and in need of upgrades at all defensive positions.
Naturally the FA market will heat up in the weeks following the SB when tendering deadlines and franchise/transition designations come due.

Adam, please correct me if I'm wrong but this will have a significant impact on the cap availability for many teams.

It could, depending on how much they pushed forward. And some teams will have theirs reduced by quite a bit because of tenders for RFAs, EFAs and possibly franchise/transition players.

Adam really shouldn't be allowed in the Poster of the Month/Year competitions. Really, it's not even fair.
Thanks Adam, again...

Any ideas on what the projected salary cap will be for next season?

Wait, the Giants need upgrades at ALL defensive positions? Some yes, but ALL? They must really suck.

I believe Vols44 said clearly that the Giants need help at "asll" defensive positions.

It was reported in the Buffalo Snooze that the Bills used the NLTBE loophole to transfer $5 million to 2008
Can you confirm this Adam?

Adam, thanks for the info. A couple of questions:
1) Do these salary commitments count all signed players or just the top 51?
2) Are upcoming roster/option bonuses calculated into that salary total? Or do bonuses only count once they are paid?

I'll check into it. At some point, I'll list every team that pushed cap room forward, how much and the players involved. But I'm still waiting for some info on that.
