White Lights or color lights on the Christmas Tree?

OK, big point of contention in our household: white lights or color lights on the tree. I prefer multi-color. Where do you stand?

I've always been a big fan of the classic look on the outside of the house: white candles in the window, white lights on the house. Even in our crappy townhouse I did it that way, looks way better now that we have a house fitting of the classic look.

Wife always liked colored lights on the tree so that's ok although I still like white.

You gotta have multi-color. And i'm not talking those little ones either, the big bulbs. White puts me to sleep faster than Thanksgiving dinner.

Yuck... those big colored bulbs are horrible.

Sign me up for the white lights. You bring in the color with the other decorations on the tree.

Colored when I have a tree.

Last 2 tree lights were strings of Red, White and Blue wrapped together.

Before that......buncha colors with many flashing options. And of course no flash after I have my seizure.

I'm in for the multi-color lights. I don't like the "classic" look in my house. The day my wife sits there for hours carefully making sure that everything matches the decor and that all of the ornaments are just so is the day that I put on a sleeveless t-shirt, start growing a mullet, drinking PBR at 9am, and calling her my "hot mama" in protest.

I want to see some blinking colored lights and a tree with ornaments that Martha Stewart would think were awful. I want stuff on my tree with a story attached to it ("remember when we were moving and you dropped the box or ornaments and this is the only one that made it?") or that my son made in pre-school. I want a bunch of hand-wrapped presents under the tree that have entirely to much damned tape on them and the corners aren't quite right. I want the tags that say "To: Daddy" to be written in my 4 year old's hand.

I want a family Christmas, not some "Better and Homes & Gardens" misguided notion of seasonal decorating perfection.

Different colors, different types (C7, mini, bubble, and whatever else is available). Make 'em flash, and create a homey little light show.

I do a combo ... I put white lights on the whole tree that stay solid, and then I have a string of colored lights on the whole tree that blink in time to music. The string of white lights is wound a little tighter around the 'inside' of the tree and the colored string is wrapped closer to the outside of the tree.

You speak the truth.

I hate the trees with the single colored lights and a color scheme. The bowes, the lights and the topper all match. What a pile of crap.

I run my lights off my gas powered generator in the garage.

Multi color, big beautiful bulbs. Oh, and don't forget the tinsel and plastic tree.

Dang, be right back. Gotta put my sock in the dryer, and wash my dishtowel.
