Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XV
i thought it was one of the best treehouses ever... my favorite is still V - but XV was very very good
i think the "The Ned Zone" skit will become a classic. It was reminiscent of the Time-Traveling-Toaster from V... which is my favorite halloween skit ever done, and a large reason why V is my favorite. The Ned Zone is based on a premise that has been done before by several science fiction outlets (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's "Visionary" is one prominent example) but The Simpsons did it very very well. With regard to the Mutton Chop Murderer skit - all i can say is that i'm shocked that the Simpson's had never spoofed Sherlock Holmes in a halloween episode before - all the dual roles made a lot of sense. I would have liked to see a little more from Lisa of the brilliant/tortured logic Holmes always used. But it was a very fast paced skit - and it needed to be - there were a lot of twists and turns for an eight-minute skit. Eel pie is disgusting - not even the british would eat that would they? And the fantastic voyage skit was a lot of fun too... The Marge in a bathing suit bit was pretty gratuitous - but i'm sure that was the point. and the end of it - the whole "i've got you under my skin" dance was both gross and funny - a hard combination to pull off. I still don't get why they used the "Perfect Strangers" theme though - doesn't seem to make sense thematically with anything from the episode. Overall, a very very good halloween special - one of my favorites. |
a job well done
and Arrest Developmetn was funny as usual |
I thought it was the worst one I could recall - and I've seen a lot of the old ones they've been showing the last few weeks.
 |
I am glad Arrested Development is back on the air. television just got a little bit better.

Also saw Arrested Development ... never saw much of it last year, but I laughed quite a bit. Good show, I hope Fox doesn't beat the hell out of it like it does with other hits. |
So it was "Perfect Strangers!" My friends and I just couldn't figure out what TV theme song from our childhood it was.

I'd agree... I'm glad they keep making new Simpsons but the show is a shell of its former self... and at times pretty awful... but a decent mindless watch. |
I don't think I've laughed at the Simpson's in the past 5 or so years, and last night's episode was no different. That's upsetting, because I always felt the old episodes from the early-mid nineties were the funniest things to be put on television.

I was disappointed. There were a couple of laughs, but overall, it didn't do much for me.
|
I was hoping Marge would be wearing a thong in the Fantastic Voyage.
|
I thought it was good.
Not great but worth watching considering the rest of the crap on TV. I wish they would come out with another reality tv show because there just aren't enough. |
The Ned Zone and Fantastic Voyage skits were well done. Overall I don’t find the Treehouse episodes all that great but XV was the best one they have done in quite some time. As for the regular shows, I don’t think that the series has lost much as far as comedic value over the past several years. It is still a very sharp sitcom that has an occasional marginal episode.
And Arrested Development was hilarious, as usual. |
I thought Arrested Development was funnier than it had ever been. The Simpsons, though, has really gone downhill. It's not funny right now. I sure hope it doesn't go into an SNL period where you get embarrassed about how bad it is.
