Instead of making $7m base salary in '13 and $8m base in 2014, Free will make $3.5m base each of the next two years.

The Cowboys now have plenty of wiggle room should they be interested in extending players such as Sean Lee and Dez Bryant a little early.

Free and Jermey Parnell will most likely battle for the starting right tackle spot during this summer's camps.

Cut by the Cowboys in March, Sensabaugh has elected to walk away from the game instead of looking to play for another team in 2013. He signed a one-day contract Thursday to retire with the team. The Cowboys will place Sensabaugh on the reserve/retired list.

He joined the Cowboys in 2009 as a free agent after spending his first four years in Jacksonville. He started all but two games in his four seasons with the Cowboys and had eight interceptions. He played with a number of different safeties, from Ken Hamlin (2009) to Alan Ball (2010) to Abram Elam (2011) to Barry Church, Danny McCray and Charlie Peprah (2012).

The Cowboys signed Sensabaugh, who will turn 30 in June, to a five-year extension in 2011, guaranteeing him $8 million, but he played only one full season of the deal. Instead of owing him $3 million this year, the Cowboys chose to cut him to create needed salary-cap room.
